Wedding is a special occasion for both the bride and the groom. Wedding Ceremonies in India consist of several rites and rituals, starting from the Pre-Wedding Ceremonies and ending in the Post Wedding Ceremonies. After going through all the rituals of the main wedding function, some ceremonies are still left. These are called the post wedding ceremonies. Out of the many Post Wedding Ceremonies in India, some important ones are Vidaai, Dwar-Rokai, Reception, Griha Pravesh, Mooh Dikhai and Pag Phera.
Dwar Rokai
Dwar Rokka ceremony is largely performed in the north Indian weddings. It is an important ceremony as per traditional Indian wedding rituals. Dwar rokai ceremony is held when newly wed couple arrives at groom's home. All the relatives offer couple a warm welcome but the groom's sister doesn't allow them to enter at home. She will only allow the couple to enter at home after getting some gifts or cash from her brother. After that, the couple gives her attractive gift and makes way for going to home.
Griha Pravesh
At the groom's house, everyone is standing at the entrance of home, particularly the ladies, to welcome wholeheartedly the newly married couple. When the bride and groom arrive at the home, the ladies perform the ceremony of 'Griha Pravesh' for the bride. In the north Indian wedding, the Griha Pravesh ceremony maintains a huge significance. In fact, it is the traditional Indian way of welcoming the newly wed bride.
Reception
Reception is like an extension of the marriage festival. In most of the cases, a lavish cuisine and excellent dishes are served to the guests and relatives. Music and dance add glitter in the function. Reception is a kind of party, or a jovial acquaintance of bride to the groom's community. This ceremony does not comprise any heavy customs like in other wedding ceremonies.
