About Iowa 511 Trk
Iowa 511 Trucker is the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) official traffic and traveler information app for commercial vehicle operators. The Iowa 511 Trucker app provides statewide up-to-date traffic information for interstates, U.S. routes and state highways in Iowa. It does not include information for county roads or city streets.
FEATURES:
• Hands-free, eyes-free audio notifications of traffic events while you drive
• A zoom-enabled map with selectable traffic event icons and surrounding camera views
• Near real-time updates on winter road conditions, truck restrictions, traffic incidents, construction, and road closures
• Access and create Your 511 personalized saved routes and alerts (e.g. Home to Work).
• Commercial vehicle restriction information
• Travel time delays associated with traffic reports (look for the orange glowing icons)
• Current traffic speeds
• Traffic camera images and streaming video
• Snow plow camera images and locations
• Towing prohibited (tow ban) events for winter storms
• Citizen reports via Waze
• Weigh station locations
• Electronic roadway sign messages
• Highway rest area locations
NOTE: Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease device battery life.
The primary responsibility of every driver is the safe operation of their vehicle. While traveling, mobile communication devices should be used only when the motor vehicle is at a complete stop off the traveled portion of the roadway. Do not text and drive (it's against the law) or use this app while driving.

-Are you a Commercial Vehicle Operator and looking for truck parking in Iowa? Check out our enhancement to the "Tell Me" feature. As you drive, it will announce upcoming rest areas and select private truck stop locations along with real-time truck parking availability (where available).
- To start using this new feature, go to the Settings cog in the app, then "Tell Me Settings" and turn on "Parking Availability". Back on the main map, tap "Tell Me" in the bottom right corner of the app.

• We added another feature to our real-time parking area feature that will show a flame on the parking area site details, if it's filling up fast. (hint: turn on the rest area layer).

• We totally revamped the rest area look and feel and now includes real-time truck parking availability at state-run rest areas and select private truck stops along I-80, and portions of I-380, I-35, I-235, and I-29. Just turn on the Rest Area layer to see the new features.
