MAQ THEN AND NOW..

Doha may sound unfamiliar for many Malaysians back home but this place has been inhabited by several Malaysians for more than 20 years, namely those on assignment with the oil and gas industries like QGPC (now Qatar Energy), Qatargas, etc.

Since 1998, the trend of Malaysian professional expatriates venturing into Qatar has increased significantly with the numbers has crossed more than one thousand people. The Malaysian Association of Qatar (MAQ), was formed on 14 April 2000 on the recommendation by YB Dato’ Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, the then Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who was on official visit to Qatar.

MAQ is officially recognized by the Embassy of Malaysia in Qatar as the association representing Malaysians in Qatar and patronized by the Malaysian Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
