About Pennant

Pennant (formerly Race to the Pennant) is an fun new way to keep up with sports standings all season long. In addition to baseball, Pennant now includes football, basketball, hockey, and soccer standings with more sports on the way!

Watch your team as it advances in its division throughout the year, and - hopefully - secures a place in the playoffs. Additionally, dive into the detailed win-loss record of every team and compare the teams' recent performance. See who is leading the league all season long in a very easy to grasp, visual format.

In addition to our classic bar chart views of league standings, Pennant now has a completely new My Pennant view, allowing you to choose from a selection of content blocks displaying different types of stats and standings data. You can even mix and match between different sports, years, divisions, and teams! These blocks are even available as system widgets in iOS 14 or later, meaning you can keep track of the current standings without even opening the app!

Pennant fully supports dark mode and the team colors pop on the dark background. Additionally, new gestures make it easy to navigate around the interface, exploring stats and standings in seconds.

Purchase Pennant Premium and create an unlimited customized view, access all customizable content blocks as system widgets, see game results, detailed team stats, previous years' results, set a favorite team for quick glances in a widget, and more! Information about Pennant Premium:

The Pennant Premium: All Sports subscription for one year includes unlimited widgets, unlimited My Pennant blocks, allows setting a favorite team, unlocks multiple season's worth of data, and seeing individual game results.

The yearly subscriptions for Pennant Premium will auto-renew at a rate of $9.99 per year, but users can cancel at any time from the App Store account settings. Payment will be charged at time of purchase for the first year. Users should cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period to keep the subscription from auto-renewing.

The user's payment will be charged to their App Store Account at confirmation of purchase. Their account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication.

Baseball season is upon us, and this new build includes support for the 2021 season! In addition, a few other additions and improvements have been made:

- Shortcut support: you can now create shortcuts that include navigating to league, division, team, or My Pennant screens
- Siri suggestions: iOS will suggest visiting often-visited screens like My Pennant, leagues, or team details
- Deep linking from small widgets: Now tapping on a small-size widget will take you to the team or division shown
- Assorted UI improvements: labels shouldn't be cut off and other small tweaks
- Groundwork-laying: lots to come, so this cleans up some of the underlying code to make it easier to add new features
- This build also includes a couple new app icons...

It's new version time! In this build, I've added rich functionality to both the content blocks on the My Pennant view as well as any system widget you've put on your Home Screen:

Tap on the block or the section you're interested in and the app will open directly to the corresponding division or team detail view. This puts you just a tap away from all the data Pennant has to offer!

Additionally, this version introduces alternate icons for Pennant Premium (All Sports) subscribers! This first set includes an assortment of colors as well as some fun homages to other indie apps and inspirations. There's even a super special section, so be sure to follow @PennantApp to see any secret codes revealed. (I'll also share when additional app icons become available in future builds.)

Thanks for supporting Pennant! Here's an update with a few improvements:

- Text sizes, especially on widgets, look better if you use a larger system text size
- Widgets should be more reliable and not fall back to the placeholder version
- Some visualizations in the My Pennant view were a little too cropped, and this build fixes that
- Now it's a little easier to see some of the benefits of upgrading

Welcome to the biggest update in Pennant history! In addition to our classic bar chart views of league standings, we now have a completely new My Pennant view, allowing you to choose from a selection of content blocks displaying different types of stats and standings data. Pennant now includes soccer standings, just in time for the new MLS season! To make Pennant even more useful for soccer fans and to celebrate the start of the new season, we've added 2018 and 2019 soccer standings and results for Pennant Premium members (soccer or all sports).

Baseball's solidly in the postseason, football's well underway, hockey's getting started, basketball's starting soon, and we've got a nice little update for you. In this build, we focused on minor improvements and bug fixes, including:

- Hockey stats now show points, a more relevant metric for that league's standings
- Using dark mode in conjunction with the accessibility "increase contrast" setting no longer results in white backgrounds
- Background fetching of standings is more reliable, making the app even more up to date at launch
- The weird thing where the height of some bars would be inaccurate when switching between sports has been fixed
- Small improvements to tap targets
- A lot of under-the-hood work for upcoming sports that may be structured a bit differently than the existing sports

Thanks for using Pennant and for your great feedback! This build has quite a few new things in it, including:

- Hockey standings, all ready to go for the upcoming NHL season
- 2017 and 2018 hockey standings for Premium subscribers
- All-new division leader and wild card toggle, highlighting teams currently in the playoff picture
- Classic Race to the Pennant league layout, with the top teams meeting in the middle
- Convenient left/right swipe gestures to switch display mode, for those of you with muscle memory
- Twitter links now open the Twitter app if you have it installed
- Pennant Premium subscription buttons aren’t as large, preventing accidental taps
- Labels on team bars won’t scale too big if system text settings are large

Thanks so much for checking out Pennant! This update includes the following:

- We added 2017 and 2018 football standings, so Pennant Premium: Football subscribers can go back in time and relive those fun seasons.
- Not content to stop there, we also added 2017 and 2018 basketball standings, for Pennant Premium: Basketball subscribers to do the same!
- There was a layout issue on the Pennant Premium view, but that's now fixed. Sorry about that. New technology and all.
- We locked the iPhone app in portrait until it's better optimized for horizontal layout on iPhone.
- The interface got a little cleaner with the removal of the dismiss button on modal views. Just swipe down to dismiss the secondary views.

Pennant is all new! Throughout the years, Race to the Pennant has been an easy-to-use baseball standings app, but it's growing up with new features, sports, and a new name.

In the latest version, Pennant includes football and basketball standings in addition to baseball, with more sports and years on the way. This version also fully supports iOS 13 dark mode and new navigational gestures in iOS 13.

Thanks for your feedback and use throughout the year! This version of Race to the Pennant improves a number of small user interface issue, especially around the shake-to-share feature. If you didn’t know, you can shake your device at any point and easily share a screenshot of the view you’re looking at. Share via Messages, save the image, or send to any social network or app that you have installed on your device.
