About StandiPig

The StandiPig app is an innovative digital solution implemented by Wisium.

In today’s business, it is important to compare and benchmark the zootechnical performances of animals between different treatments, successive batches and even farms.

However, the diversity of farm situation in terms of management makes this difficult, as the performances of the animals are changing quickly with their age. Thus an Average Daily Gain (ADG) of piglets for a post-weaning period ending at 30kg have to be interpreted differently either the animals have been weaned at 6kg or at 8kg live weight.

In order to erase the effect of the variable farm practices and situations, it has been developed some equation allowing to standardize the performances of the animals in terms of ADG, feed intake and Feed Convertion Ration (FCR). They have been published in the ""JRP"" conferences in 1991 and 2004. Widely used since, they became since the reference in its field.
The equations are quite complex, but their utilization is rather simple, and StandiPig is the easiest way to use them.

At first must be chosen reference weight for the periods studied (either post-weaning, fattening or weaning to finish). Then, case by case the following data are used for the observed zootechnical performances: ADG, FCR, starting and ending weights. The results are the standardized ADG and FCR for the reference period chosen.
