WeatherKit -Live Weather Radar 3.9.1 Update
2023-04-28
In this critical update, we've fixed an issue that was affecting some people where the app would randomly crash. Apple's purchase of DarkSky also meant that the DarkSky API was no longer available — and we've now removed that option altogether. All free users have been updated to WeatherKit's Pro option, OpenWeatherMap as a data source until we finalise adding some other options.

It's been a while! This version brings many performance updates - and it includes a fix for those of you who couldn't add new cities in Glances. More updates to come soon-ish!

For those of you transitioning from DarkSky: welcome back!
3.8.5 2020-04-22
And there it is. To ease things in for WeatherKit 4, we've updated our visual identity to something we've had in progress for some time.
3.8.4 2020-03-05

Huh. Long time, no see. This version fixes the "Air Pressure" values for everyone out there.

We have one small request, though: if you're reading this, and you really like the software we're creating, please take a moment to write a review for WeatherKit. Those reviews help us rank better in the AppStore, leading to more downloads, leading to more revenue which means that we can dedicate more time to WeatherKit and new features.

Thank you!
3.8.2 2020-02-03
In this quick update, we fixed some of the hurdles some of you were facing.
3.8.1 2020-01-26
In this latest version, we made a number of big changes of how WeatherKit works under-the-hood. More importantly, we fixed some bugs that some of you were experiencing on iOS 13, such as:
- when adding a new city in Glances, the app would sometime quit;
- the cities that you already had in Glances were deleted;

Thank you for trusting WeatherKit for your weather forecast! If you're happy with WeatherKit, please leave a review in the AppStore, it would mean the world to us.
3.8 2019-12-04
This is right. WeatherKit is now at 3.8. *claps*

First of all, we're making it public that we're working on a new major version, WeatherKit 4.
This is a huge thing for us because this v4 can be used on all of your devices, from Watch to TV. I repeat, we're thinking of all of the devices.

To keep in touch, please follow @WeatherKit on Twitter. We'll invite some people to a very private demo in early 2020.

Right. So, in this new version, if you have Dark Sky selected as your primary weather data source, we have a better precipitation overview for you.
3.7.1 2019-09-14
This is WeatherKit 3.7 — We've patched some animations for those of you who are on newer iOS versions *please work*. Join our Reddit (/r/WeatherKit) to see what we've been up to lately and what updates to expect in the future!

As always, thank you for using WeatherKit!
3.6.2 2019-06-23
Nothing shiny this time of the year, just some tiny improvements.
3.6.1 2019-06-11
Here's a fast, quick update. · If you receive weather-related push notifications for strange places you've been into, please do the following steps: go into the Settings, then tap on RainAlert and hit the Refresh button. After you did that, turn on the switches of the cities that you want to be notified about. · The v3.6 was one of the most unstable release we ever shipped. With v3.6.1, we're solving some of the bigger bugs that might have impacted some of you. As always, thank you for using WeatherKit. Please consider leaving a review or sharing the app with your friends, as that's the only marketing we get - and that sort of help enables us to work even more on the product.

u the best we ever had
3.6 2019-05-30
• Select your data source
You asked, we listened. From today on, you can select the data source that you want.

• Sunsetting our Today Widget
In the light of some future updates, we decided to sunset our no-so-performant Today widget, for the time being. This is not a goodbye, just a see you soon.

• It's that time of the year
There's an important upcoming event for all developers, so we dedicated a new app icon for that. Excited?

• Stability
Fixed some bugs, eh. Such as the annoying crash that happened when you were trying to open the RainAlert settings.

These new features will roll out immediately to you — and we'd appreciate if you took some extra seconds to leave us a review.

We're committed to making this app as exceptional as it can be - with your support. We'd love to hear from you, so don't hesitate to message us at team@weatherkit.org.
3.5 2019-03-26
That boring update before the storm.

· Performance improvements.
We took the past two weeks to improve the overall performance of WeatherKit. Shipping new features is cool, but nothing is cooler than deleting old, deprecated code.

· Optimized onboarding
We redesigned the user onboarding to something that's a little bit more friendly and explicit about how to use WeatherKit at maximum.

As always, our small independent team thanks you for using WeatherKit. If you appreciate our efforts, it would mean the world to us if you share the app with your friends or leave an AppStore review. You people, you rock!
3.4.2 2019-03-05
· Lunar, a new app icon.
Remember Tokyo? Us neither, but we tried to imagine how would it look like on your home screen through this vibrant new app icon, available to every one of you.

· Status and support via iMessage.
Just like Google, our partner's API can go down sometimes and we thought of making a isweatherkitdown.com but the domain was 12$ too expensive for us (GoDaddy!!!) so we ended up making an brand new screen where we will communicate if WeatherKit is encountering issues.

Oh, yeah — and now you can request support / send silly GIFs via iMessage, from the bottom of the Settings view. Happy to assist!

· 12/24h glitch.
Making software is hard. If you add timezones, locales and weird temperature units on top of that... you see where this is going. HH:ard to admit, it's us who mistakenly shipped something broken but it's even hh:arder that we advertised it as perfect. WeatherKit will now sync with your 12/24h iPhone for the hourly forecasts.

· Bugs, without the bunny.
Cut temperature label with ... thank you, next.

As always, thank you for even updating WeatherKit to the latest version. If you enjoy the app, kindly help us with a review or share it on social media. If you hate it, please reach out with your thoughts and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks,
the small, independent team behind WeatherKit.
3.4.1 2019-02-09
New in WeatherKit 3.4.1

· Weather Radar
We included one of the most requested features, now one swipe away. To access the weather radar with several weather data layers, simply swipe left.

· 7-day Forecast
After expanding the forecast from 2 to 5 days, it made sense to actually expand our coverage to 7 days - helping even more people plan ahead.

· User Interface Improvements
We take pride in WeatherKit's design language and especially how it feels. We made some changes that address the transition times and feeling: making WeatherKit feel a lot faster while being smooth.

· Lots of bug-squashing
As always, we care about how our software feels so we spend extra time making sure that we cover most of the edge cases.

This release is incredibly important for us and if you like it, we'd be incredibly happy if you could leave a review or share the app with your friends.
Ran into some issues or have questions? Kindly reach out to us at support@softhaus.org or via the "Contact us" button in the app.

You're the best.

3.3.1 2018-11-20
We're making some subtle design changes in the following updates and more specifically, this update brings a few design updates and a bug fix in Glances.
3.3 2018-11-17
With WeatherKit 3.3, our focus was to improve the user experience. This new version brings a couple of new and exciting things and many bug fixes that are worth reading in the following lines.

• New in v3.3
· iPad compatibility.
· High Contrast mode.
· new “Rocket Man” App Icon.
· Sunset & Sunrise times
. Visibility & Ozone data points.

• Improvements
· the app icon is now visible on iPad (thanks, Jerry H.)
· the hourly forecast format is now synced with the hour format you use on your phone (12/24h)
· lots of user interface adjustments, like dividing pixels in half only to be pixel-perfect.
· if you replied to our feedback modal in Glances, you’ll no longer be bothered by it.
· the launch screen now features our shiny little icon, as it was intended.
· in some isolated cases, there was a bug obstructing people to restore their lifetime in-app purchase.
· if you're using Bold Text in iOS, you can now see the + icon in Glances.

You may have noticed that we moved the Settings - now accessible from the main weather screen at the top left via the settings icon. We're still experimenting with its positioning and you'll soon see why we chose to move it.

Like always, thanks a bunch for using WeatherKit! If you enjoy the app, please help us out by rating us on the AppStore.

Thanks,
the small indie team behind WeatherKit.

P.S. Found a nasty bug? That happens and we’re sorry about that. Kindly reach out to team@weatherkit.org and we’ll solve the issue ASAP.
3.1.1 2018-08-21
The summer is almost over and we're eager to start the week with a small update that fixes the Air Quality Index for most of you who had it broken in the first place.

· AQI
It was working, but we did something and it stopped working. We un-did that thing that we did and now it works again.

· Restore Purchases
There was a small bug in our purchases flow that made it near to impossible to restore the purchases — "was" is the keyword here.
3.1 2018-06-09
Imagine a version of WeatherKit that includes hourly forecasts. Now stop imagining that because this version of WeatherKit includes hourly forecasts. Really.

· Hourly Forecasts
To those of you who insisted on having this neat little feature in WeatherKit, we thank you. You helped us re-prioritize the roadmap and focus on getting this helpful feature done. Simply swipe through all those 24 hours and know how if your picnic is rain-safe.

· Fixed a cat-made bug.
This is a serious and funny story. Our cat, Sisi, has an affinity for walking on the desk and sometimes on the keyboard. While working on v3.0.4, Adrian drank a lot of juice, often leaving to the bathroom and leaving his desk unattended. She walked over the keyboard and inserted "n-q" on a new line, at the end of a JSON. We deployed her first bug to over 120 000 people. We now promise to never ship her "features" ever again. Cats should never run the world, let alone walking over the keyboard.

· There were other bugs.
But you already know the story. We fixed some of them.
3.0.4 2018-06-04
Today's update is all about WWDC, especially for the people in San Jose & Cupertino. We hope you'll enjoy the show.

· WWDC-themed app icon
We named it WKDC and it stands for WeatherKit Developer Conference. It was pretty rudimentary, but full of courage. #loveApple

P.S. The weather descriptions for San Jose and Cupertino will be related to the conference. *I'm sorry, Craig.*

· Haptic Feedback
Actually, this was part of the v3.0.3 update. Swiping on the weather card is now triggering a subtle haptic feedback. It's the best haptic feedback we've ever shipped.

Courage.

-

And now, onto the serious stuff again, thanks for trusting WeatherKit for keeping your hair dry. It means the world to us.
3.0.3 2018-05-29
I've had an incredible bad day, so I don't really know how to begin writing the notes of this release. I'm trying.

· Motion Gradients
This is not a huge update, but rather a really neat visual effect. Open WeatherKit and start tilting your phone.
P.S. You can disable them from Settings.

· Other improvements
We've made a handful of other minor improvements to improve the WeatherKit experience.
P.P.S. We'll continue to do this because we love what we do.

If you enjoy using WeatherKit, please take a moment to leave a nice review. It really helps. It'll also make my day slightly better.
3.0.2 2018-05-17
Here's a new update - while it's not shiny, it's a step forward for WeatherKit.

· Custom App Icons
We added a "Customize WeatherKit" option in Settings, from where you can change the app icon to something else. There are only 3 because Raul was overwhelmed with customer support - but we'll add more. I

· Wind Speed in m/s, mph and km/2
A few of you suggested that *you* should be the one selecting the metric of the wind speed. If you're a Pro, you'll find this under "Customize WeatherKit" in Settings.

· Help Center & Product Roadmap
We started paying Zendesk (if you're reading this, you're expensive) to host our Help Center and Product Roadmap. You'll find these in Settings.

· We also made a few other improvements and bug-fixing.
3.0.1 2018-05-11
Here’s Aerium 3.0… umm, it’s called WeatherKit now. This update is a major step towards the weather app we all want.

Here’s what’s new:

· 5-day forecast
During our beta, we heard lots of voices saying that we should support at least 5 days of weather forecast. To do so, we invested heavily into how we can make that experience as seamless as possible and our whole team is stoked with the result. Did someone say hourly forecasts? They're next.

· RainAlert
We love RainAlert only because sometimes it’s invisible. It was designed to only get in your way when you need it more.

· Subscriptions
To provide you with the best weather data, we’re using the best weather API’s available - and boy, they’re not cheap. We’re a small indie team committed to this project and to the people using it, without turning a profit. In all fairness, we’d love to push the limits on the affordability and in this update, we added multiple Pro subscriptions. You can subscribe to our monthly or yearly plan, or get the best deal available and buy the lifetime in-app purchase.

· Interface & Experience
We updated the onboarding alongside with the interface for a better user experience. You’ll notice major changes to the swipe-up weather card, both in smoothness and content. It’s a small redesign with a focus on accessibility.

We really, really thank you for echoing our mission and for your support!

---
P.S. This text wasn't short at all and looks like you read it all. I'm writing it, pretty scared of tomorrow's launch. What if no media outlets cover us? What if no-one shares it with their friends? What if it'll be a fail? These are normal fears for a independent team like ours, but then we realize that what truly matters is if we actually make an impact. If we do, it's only because of you.

You, our little friend, are our rockstar.
2.0.4 2017-10-17
What’s New in 2.0.4:
• Tapping on the widget will open the app, as intended!
• Solved the bug that crashed the app every time you wanted to save the image you took with Aerium.
• Sending feedback doesn't crash the app anymore. Yay!
• We had some bug fixing to do. We did it and we're still doing it.
• Performance improvements.

Thanks for using Aerium! We’re constantly updating the app to improve the Aerium experience and bring you additional features. Have feedback or questions? Email us at help@wrks.co.
2.0.3 2017-10-08
=== 2.0.3 ===

Once upon a time, there was this little bug in the Today Widget that prevented switching to Fahrenheit. After 3 bad reviews, we found the bug, solved it and now the widget displays the weather in the metric you chose from Settings.

Serious talk now: we fully appreciate your support, but we'd appreciate if you could send the bug reports to help@wrks.co, instead of leaving a bad review. That way, we can solve it faster and get more details about what's going wrong.

Thank you!
2.0.2 2017-10-05
=== 2.0.2 ===

We'll eventually get tired of writing this every two weeks, but we fixed a few little, unexpected behaviors. Also called bugs. But yes, the ones we know about are gone now.
2.0.1 2017-10-03
World, meet Aerium 2.

=== TL;DR ===
We've completely rebuilt Aerium for iOS 11, from scratch, to improve the overall performance & data efficiency. Instead of trusting the OS to deliver our weather alerts (sometimes it wouldn't do that), we built a powerful server that will make sure that you won't go outside without your umbrella or sunglasses, if that's the case.

=== New features ===
• Air Quality Index. We want to keep you healthy and let you know when it's not safe out there.
• Glances. Simply swipe right to see and add multiple cities under your watch.
• Distributed Rain Alert. You can now tell Aerium to alert you for more than one city.
• Apple Watch. Finally, we extended our device-range to wearables. Best of all? It's free.

=== Improved features ===
• Efficiency. Everyday, we're making partnerships with national meteorologic stations in order to provide you with ultra-precise weather data.
• Battery-friendly. Used on a daily basis, for a week, Aerium will consume under 1% of your battery.
• GPS. The app will no longer need your location set on "Always". Instead, it'll use your location only when you're using the app.

=== What's next? ====
We're on our way to improve the way people deal with overwhelming weather information. In order to do that, we've put our resources together and made one of the best weather applications out there. If you have any ideas, feedback or experience any inconvenience, send us an email at business@wrks.co and if you consider the application useful, consider sharing it with your friends and leave a review.

=== Also, did you know we're hiring our fans? ===
DM us @getAerium and we'll start from there.

Thanks for using Aerium. You're the greatest human being that ever lived.

· We fixed a rare crash and fired the lead developer who thought it was a nice „feature”. He was bad, anyway.
· Before letting him go, he also changed the UI a bit, to make it more readable. He cared about your experience.
· The new developer, who has the same name and it's just a coincidence, improved the RainAlert system.

If you enjoy Aerium, now is the time to share it with your friends, because it's free for a limited amount of time. And if you have enemies, share the app with them when it'll be back at $3.99.
