MPE (MIDI POLYPHONIC EXPRESSION) SUPPORT (In-App Purchase):

- Per-note controller data can be recorded, played back & edited, including editing individual notes and using all regular controller editor tools to edit only that note's expression data

- The Pianoroll Editor is fully aware of MPE data attached to notes and all edits to notes (movement, length changes, deletion, duplication etc.) will be applied to any attached MPE controller data automatically. When selecting notes, their controller data is shown on each note

- The quantization engine is fully MPE aware and will map MPE data as appropriate when quantizing notes

- Lower / upper MPE zones can be selected per instrument, including number of member channels

- Extensive features for automatic (re-)mapping of channels to notes and controller data, configurable separately for recording, drawing, depending on zone membership, per instrument, etc.

CONTROLLER / NOTE EDITING IMPROVEMENTS:

- GHOST NOTES / CONTROLLERS: In all editors, any controllers or notes from other clips / tracks (configurable) can be shown greyed out as an editing reference

- VERTICAL SCALE: Each controller can be assigned a custom "Display as" range (say, 0 to 20000 for a filter cutoff, or -48 to 48 for Pitch) which will be shown in all sliders, in the new vertical grid, etc. (of course, actual sent values are still in the usual MIDI range of 0-127 or 0-16383)

- VERTICAL ZOOMING: The Controller / Velocity Editor can now be zoomed and/or panned vertically as well

- Min & Max MIDI values (or single value) of currently selected controller or velocity data are shown for more precise editing

- INTERACTIVE SCALING: Controller data can be scaled up/down (instead of only moved) interactively with 2 new vertical handles, superseding the "Process" -> "Range" tool

- DIRECT VALUE ENTRY: Precise controller values can be entered directly to set or scale the selection. 14-bit values can be entered either as the full value or as LSB and/or MSB (the other 7-bit are kept intact)

- ROBUST (N)RPN SUPPORT (In-App Purchase): 7 or 14 bit (N)RPNs can be set up, recorded, edited transparently, played back, sent live, & imported / exported via MIDI files. All configurable for maximum flexibility and compatibility

- PITCH BEND now handled at FULL 14 BIT resolution

IMPROVEMENTS:

- SAVE and LOAD instruments (In-App Purchase), including MIDI destination & channel, sync settings, controllers, MPE settings & drum map
- GRID snapping can now be toggled independently of grid display
- Pianoroll / Controller Editor: The mode / data type dropdown now shows entries in color when the clip contains data of the corresponding type
- Behaviour on launch can now be changed ("Restore last session", "New project", "Ask")
- Automatic clearing of controller data when touching ribbons while recording into the Controller editor can now be turned off in Settings -> MIDI / Recording -> Recording. Automatic clearing can now also be used for incoming MIDI controllers (from first event till end of recording, as there is no mechanism in MIDI to determine when a controller has been touched)
- Arranger: Smart automatic track names for tracks that contain only controller data
- CCs 0 and 120-127 can now be used
- Various optimizations and user interface refinements
- Further improve Xequence's already excellent MIDI output timing
- MIDI Thru now supports PolyPressure messages (Poly AfterTouch)

MISCELLANEOUS:

- Ableton Link settings have moved to the Tempo dropdown
- MIDI Sync now sends "Continue" instead of "Start" when Play is pressed
- Added Factory Drum Maps: Reason Compact (Rytmik), DigiStix, sEGments
- The "Multitrack Recording Source" section of the track menu is now only shown when MT Recording is enabled
- Removed flashing of the "Draw" toggles as some found it distracting
- Record quantization is now turned off by default in new projects
- Updated Audiobus library for improved stability

FIXES:

- MIDI File Export: Fix tracks getting out of sync in the exported file with certain settings (issue introduced in version 2.1.0).
2.2.5 2019-11-14
NEW:

- BETTER TEMPO AND TIME SIGNATURE HANDLING: The "beat unit" can now be set manually in the tempo menu (this can change the metre of the song). For example, for 6/8 time, it can be set to "1/4 dotted" to provide the correct tempo. It is also taken into account for tempo received from Ableton Link peers, so it could be used to "process" that tempo (for example, halve or double it).

- IMPROVED METRONOME and GRID HANDLING for compound time signatures.

- NEW SWING ENGINE: The length of the swing (defaults to 8th note) can now be set, independently per track, and non-destructively as usual.

- Added Drum Map for Fractal Bits.

IMPROVEMENTS:

- Arranger: Make "Controllers to own tracks" also work for clips without note data.
- Ruler: The ruler will now show subdivisions (upper number of time signature) as dots.
- Keyboard: Fixed and much more robust scrolling behaviour, both keyboards can be scrolled independently even while playing chords.
- The tempo menu button will now show a "/2" symbol when the "1/2 speed" toggle (now with a cute snail icon!) is enabled.
- The upper and lower number of the time signature can now be tapped to directly enter a value.
- Various optimizations.

FIXES:

- Xequence projects (.xeqproj) can again be opened in Xequence via "Open In" / share sheets.
- Keyboard: Prevent iOS "Copy/Paste" menu from popping up when playing chords in "Scroll" mode.
- Prevent dragging loop region handles during recording.
- Some modifications to the project weren't always registered and the "Save" button would still be greyed out. Fixed.

MISCELLANEOUS:

- Every Xequence release from now on will be named after a small Irish town or village that is totally unknown, but beautiful or in some way relevant nonetheless!
2.2.4 2019-10-21
- Fix possible MIDI output glitches while scrolling user interface elements or lists since iOS 13.
2.2.3 2019-10-08

- Fix layout glitches on some newer devices with iOS 13.
2.2.1 2019-09-29
IMPROVEMENTS:

- Arranger: When joining clips, contents (notes / controllers) of any muted clips will be excluded from the joined clip.
- Arranger: Made the handle for the "Split" tool a bit wider so it's easier to grab.
2.2.0 2019-09-26
NEW ARRANGER FEATURES:

- CLIP MUTING: Any clip(s) can now be individually muted, significantly enhancing arrangement workflow -- just keep duplicating all your ideas on all tracks and then introduce variation by muting individual clips. Can be toggled in the new "Options" menu.
- New selection option "Muted" for selecting all muted clips (for example, to delete them once arrangement is done).
- New "DUPLICATE & JOIN" feature in the bottom toolbar: this works like "Duplicate", but joins the original and the copy together so that the result is a new clip twice the length of the original. A very useful tool for arranging electronic music, for example when you have a short idea in a clip that you would like to extend to your regular "section" length, like 8 bars. If the idea is 1 bar long, just tap "Duplicate & Join" 3 times.
- New GLOBAL "SOLO" toggle above the tracklist (only while ruler is visible): Un-solo all soloed tracks with a single tap.

IMPROVEMENTS:

- All clip toggles ("Loop", "Cut at end" / "Play through", and the new "Mute") are now in a separate "Options" menu.
- All scrollable lists (file selector, drum maps, etc.) now support momentum scrolling (iOS 13 and later only).
- If a project has text in the notepad, the notepad icon will be more prominent.
- More logical arrangement of track area buttons.
- Reduced battery usage in the background.

FIXES:

- MIDI Import: Fix potentially odd starting / end positions of imported clips if the time signature of the imported MIDI file is different from the current project's.
- MIDI Import: Further improvements to compatibility with many MIDI files.
- Pianoroll: Prevent "Fill clip" from running out of memory when using an extremely short selection and no grid.
- Fix "Notes longer than clip" setting not being taken into account for looped clips.

FIXES:

- Keyboard: Fix horizontal offset on iPhone X when gliding between keys.
- Arranger: Fix wrong timeline positions for clips that have been cropped from the left in projects that have been saved with Xequence version 2.0.x (also affected the "Beta" demo project).
2.1.1 2019-09-04
NEW:

- Added a notepad for project-related notes (the new "Sheet of paper" icon on the "Project" tab).

IMPROVEMENTS:

- Add a hint after the first Multi-Take Loop Recording to let the user know how to work most effectively with multiple takes.

FIXES:

- Prevent crash in rare situations when a deleted track's "..." menu remains open.
2.1.0 2019-08-30
NEW:

- MULTI-TAKE LOOP RECORDING: New "Separate tracks" mode (enabled by default) in settings -> [ MIDI / Recording ] -> [ Loop Recording in Arranger ] -- each new loop will be recorded onto a separate arranger track automatically. New takes are added only if notes or controllers have actually been played / received during that loop. Any and all takes can be previewed by just un-muting them one by one after recording. When the perfect take is found, tapping on the "..." menu of that take's track and then "Use this take" will delete all unused takes of the corresponding recording session and move the selected takes to the originally selected track.

GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS:

- Toggling the song loop on or off during playback no longer causes a glitch.
- Audiobus: Increased the number of available MIDI In Ports from 8 to 16.
- Undo: Significantly improved intelligent viewport restoration after "Undo" in all editors.
- Make loop progress indicator more visible during recording.
- Arranger: It is now possible to delete the "main" track for an instrument without deleting the instrument itself (the next track below it will become the "main" track).
- Arranger: Improved drawing of muted tracks.
- Arranger: More accurate controller data previews.
- Pianoroll: Only center the view horizontally on the new notes after using "Duplicate", not vertically.
- MIDI Output: Optimize all editing operations so that they do not turn off running notes during playback when not logically necessary (for example, when editing controller data or note velocities).
- Make working with triplet grids more correct in various edge cases.
- Increased PPQ from 16384 to 24576.
- Various optimizations.

MIDI FILE IMPORT IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES:

- More robust import of MIDI files with a large number of events or invalid events.
- Fix for an issue where the very first controller event on a track sometimes wouldn't be imported.
- Program changes are now imported at the correct position (i.e., not snapped to whole bars).
- Prevent zero-length clips when a MIDI file track contains only one single controller event.
- Make centered controllers like Pan and Balance actually use the "Centered" option.

MIDI FILE EXPORT IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES:

- Each arranger sub-track can now be exported as a SEPARATE track in the MIDI file even if it belongs to the same instrument. New toggle "Separate sub-tracks" in MIDI export menu.
- Fix increasingly inaccurate timing of exported notes towards the end of a track (bug introduced in 2.0.7)

FIXES:

- Corrected a few text labels.
- Fix a possible crash in certain scenarios when recording during count-in with "Record during Count-In" disabled.
- Fix a rare crash after recording controllers into the pianoroll editor, especially when using "Gate" mode.
2.0.7 2019-07-21
IMPROVEMENTS:

- Multitrack Recording: If "Auto-Add Controllers" is enabled and there's a track receiving unknown controllers during recording, the new controllers will now correctly be added to THAT track's instrument instead of the current track's one.
- Arranger: Remove unneeded empty time at the end when loading a project.
- Various optimizations.

FIXES:

- Prevent occasional "Opened from external app" file from appearing in the fileselector.
- Fix "..." screen button so that it is possible to switch to the "Settings" screen from the welcome screen and fileselector.
2.0.6 2019-07-18
FIXES:

- Fix detection of notes outside the MIDI pitch range or drum map during transpose.
- Make playback start note chasing work for notes that extend beyond their clip's end.
- Fix possible crash when exporting MIDI from a project that contains events for deleted controllers.
2.0.5 2019-07-17
FIXES:

- Bring back metronome feedback for Tap Tempo.
- Prevent metronome from sometimes sounding briefly in the middle of the song during recording when certain combinations of settings are used.
- Fix corrupted projects when using the "Split by markers" feature in MIDI file import. Previously saved projects will be fixed automatically on load.
- Fix Audiobus MIDI In Port selector in Multitrack Recording Source menu (it showed 16 MIDI Ins although only 8 are available).
- Fix the last currently known stability problem.
2.0.2 2019-07-08
