1. 本書介紹字母的讀法、母音、子音和連音的念法，輔以發音嘴型之圖形和發音訣竅，並有相似發音之比較，有助於讀者打好標準美語發音的基礎。
2. 全書使用K.K.音標。解說用字簡單清晰，屏除一切艱澀難懂的解剖學用語或語音學專門術語。
3. 每個音標輔以圖形，方便讀者對照練習。
