About 100 Years of Loss
For generations, Aboriginal children in Canada were taken from their communities and placed in residential schools. They were separated from their families, prohibited from speaking their native languages and practicing their culture, and the vast majority of these 150,000 children experienced neglect and suffering. The 100 Years of Loss: The Residential School System app was developed by the Legacy of Hope Foundation as part of an education program whose goal is to promote understanding and awareness about residential schools and their ongoing intergenerational impacts.
