Okulumuz, 1878 tarihinde Amerikalı eğitimciler tarafından kentimizin Basmane semtinde, bir “çocuk yuvası” olarak kurulur. “American Collegiate Institute” unvanı 1900’lerin başında kullanılmaya başlanır.

Özel İzmir Amerikan Koleji’ni farklı kılan özelliklerin başında geleneksel yapısını koruyarak çağdaşlaşması gelir. Cumhuriyetin ilanına tanık olmuş bir eğitim kurumu olan okulumuz, her zaman cumhuriyetle birlikte, Atatürk’ün açtığı ışıklı yolda azim ve sebatla yürümüştür.
