About ASA NSC 2019

The Australian Society of Anaesthetists National Scientific Congress (NSC) in Sydney from the 20th to 24th September 2019. It will be an exciting and memorable Congress. The theme is An Eye to the Future. Our profession is multifaceted in nature both in the day to day performance of our job and in the factors that influence our profession now and into the future. These include among other things; education, research, leadership, communication, multidisciplinary liaison, perioperative medicine etc. This congress aims to further our knowledge and skills in all these areas. Our international speakers are Professor Iain Moppett from the UK and Associate Professor Glenn Woodworth from Oregon in the USA. Our Australian speakers are Professor Colin Royse, A/Professor Lisbeth Evered from Melbourne and Professor Pam Macintyre from Adelaide. This year’s Kester Brown Lecture is being presented by A /Professor Allan Cyna from Adelaide, South Australia. Sydney is a wonderful location for a congress and we are lucky to be able to hold our congress in the recently redeveloped and expanded International Convention Centre in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. This is a state-of-the-art venue that allows the congress much of the social program and the exhibition space all to be conveniently located in the same venue in the great location that is Darling Harbour. Darling Harbour sits adjacent to the Sydney CBD and is part of the beautiful Sydney Harbour. The scientific program will run over three and a half days from Saturday 21st of September to Tuesday 24th of September. It will be complemented by a diverse day of thought provoking options on Friday 20th of September. This day includes great workshops, leadership sessions and a stimulating Medical Education and Trauma ACCUTE SIG satellite meetings. The Congress and its fantastic social program is timed to be a part of the school holidays for some states to encourage delegates to come to Sydney with their families. Darling Harbour is a great place for accompanying families to spend time with lots to see and do. The social program will include the signature Great Gatsby themed Gala Dinner event on the Saturday night. The Exhibitors Reception will be on the Sunday evening and there will be a fantastic family event on Monday night at Luna Park.
