About BeeFlat Bagpipe Tuner
BeeFlat provides readings that are accurate to .1 of a hertz and a historic view of the pitch that allows you to monitor fluctuations in blowing and adjust your tuning accordingly.
The interface has been designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind. You can take a new reading with just one button press, reverse the scale for use on drones, lock the current reading and more.
BeeFlat uses pitch detection algorithms that have been tested on a wide range of drone and reed combinations. These algorithms have been tailored to temperament and tonal qualities of the bagpipes making BeeFlat the most accurate tuner for the bagpipes available today.
The settings are configurable including an adjustable scale range, the ability to have readings shown relative to concert pitch (450s) or their actual pitch (480s) and solo temperament options. The adjustable scale range allows you to dial in a level of sensitivity that is suitable to the level of the player you are tuning. BeeFlat is suitable for use by a top level Grade One band about to go on at The World's right through to a novice band at their first practice.
BeeFlat was designed and developed by Matt Fraser in Melbourne, Australia. Matt lived in Scotland for five years where he played for the Inveraray and District Pipe Band and competed in solo competitions around the games, including the Silver Medal piobaireachd competitions at Oban and Inverness. In addition to Matt's piping credentials, he has been a professional software developer for over 10 years, developing software for some of the world's largest and well known enterprises.
