About Care19 Diary

Care19 Diary is the official COVID-19 app for the states of Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Thank you for taking an active role in slowing the spread of coronavirus and making a difference in the health of your loved ones and your community.

Care19 is a digital diary that can help you remember where you have been over the last 14 days. If you test positive for COVID-19, it's important to remember where you have been as part of the contact tracing process.

Places you visit can be added manually and, if you enable location services, the app will attempt to auto-detect locations in the background. Our goal would be to automatically capture about half of the places you visit, thus reducing the amount of work needed to maintain the list.

If you test positive for COVID-19, with your permission, this anonymous and confidential data can be shared with the Department of Health to more efficiently identify others with whom you were in contact with. Identifying contacts is key to slowing the spread of coronavirus.

You will not be asked to provide any personally identifiable information within the app. Location data will only be shared with the Department of Health if you consent upon testing positive for COVID-19. This is done by sharing a code number displayed on the “About” section of the app.

We've been hard at work over the last two weeks listening to your feedback.

This new version of the app stops using the limited category list and now uses the name of the place you visit. Places can be changed and you can create your own places.

This version also uses a different system to detect the locations you visit. This should result in fewer bad locations and fewer visits that you never made. This new system still requires you to be at a place for at least 10 minutes, sometimes more, before it will be recognized.
