About Djinang & Wurlaki

The Maningrida language apps have been created for the Maningrida languages Ndjébbana, Na-kara, Gurr-goni, Burarra/Gun-nartpa, Kune and Djinang.

These dictionary apps are part of the NT Language Support program at Maningrida, through the Centre for Australian Languages and Linguistics at Batchelor Institute. They are part of the Getting in Touch program, a partnership with the Research Unit for Indigenous Language at the University of Melbourne.

Funded by the Australian Government’s Indigenous Languages and Arts program.

The apps contain traditional knowledge of people in the Maningrida region, and have been presented with the consent and knowledge of language speakers and knowledge custodians. Dealing with any part of the knowledge for any purpose that has not been authorised may breach the customary laws of Aboriginal people, and may also breach copyright and moral rights under the Copyright Act 1968 (Commonwealth).

The app was built on the Jila framework. http://gettingintouch.com.au
