About FirstBuzzer
What is FirstBuzzer?
FirstBuzzer is an app that gives multiple quiz contestants an instant game show button to press on their smartphones, and links them together wirelessly and automatically. The first person to press their button locks out slower contestants, unless there is more than one winner!
Why do you need FirstBuzzer? In a quiz, you can't easily tell who thought of the answer first, and who deserves to answer the question. Sensing whose hand was raised first, or who signalled first, is difficult and not always fair.
You don't need the internet or a WiFi hotspot to use the app once its downloaded.
FirstBuzzer is immediate. It starts up automatically and enters a quiz straightaway. You don't enter questions and answers into it, so you can use it immediately!
And there's no additional training or effort to setup the quiz. You will need your own questions and answers though, so please have that ready for your next quiz if you are running a quiz.
FirstBuzzer Is free* and there's no ads. It has the necessary basic function available free forever.
There are so many ways to use it. Use it at events, parties, study, consolidation of topics , classes, charity fund raisers, business events, etc. Get everyone to download it and see who is the fastest to answer questions!
FirstBuzzer is a little bit magical. It is a multi-player app that works with up to 8 Apple IoS devices (eg. iPhones, iPads) at a time per quiz, but can support virtually unlimited numbers of simultaneous quizzes, even when run nearby or next door. You don't need to have an internet connection or WiFi! You can run a quiz at school, work, university, college, event, or even in a park, at the beach, on an oval, or in a forest.
There are no logins, and we take your privacy seriously! FirstBuzzer doesn't demand any personal details, and there is no login required, but if you want to personalise the quiz by entering your name or something else that identifies who is playing, it will be kept on your device and shared only to other quiz participants. We've had lots of feedback from quiz users after the initial version and the key items are addressed in this version:
- Parent Gate to help prevent under-age players buying paid in-app content without parental intervention
- Faster discovery of other devices and players
- Improved device connection handling
- Improved display of other players
- Bug fixes
- In some cases there were multiple listings for a player. A player now only appears once.
- Other minor speed tweaks.
- Change of player name only outside a quiz to limit potential for quiz disruption
Please note this version is incompatible with version 1.0 and all players can upgrade their version for free. It is recommended that all players upgrade to this version.
