About Hue Widgets

Control your lights from your Home Screen.

With Hue Widgets, you can add widgets to your Home Screen that give you super quick access to your favorite Hue scenes. You can add actions to turn on or off all lights in a room or in your entire home. Controlling your Hue lights has never been easier!

Widgets can be configured with ease from within the app. You can add as many widgets to your Home Screen as you like.

From the beginning this app was developed with accessibility in mind. All features can be accessed using VoiceOver.

Hue Widgets works on your local network. A Hue Bridge (v2) is required to connect with your lights.

What's New in the Latest Version 1.4

Old Versions
“The One With the Manual Bridge Setup”

On rare occasions, Hue Widgets will not be able to find your Hue bridge automatically during the first setup. When this happens, you will now be offered to enter your Hue bridge’s IP address manually.

Other than that: This update also fixes a couple of small issues I encountered during development.

Please consider writing a nice review. It will help others to find Hue Widgets in the App Store.

“The One That Gets Interactive”

Thanks to iOS 17, a much-requested feature has now become a reality. Hue Widgets finally allows you to control your lights from your Home Screen, without opening the app after tapping the widget.

Version 1.3.1 also improves an error message some users would see during the initial setup of the app, by making clear what is going on and what they could do to resolve this.

"The One That Brings Color"

You can now choose a color for each tile when you configure your widgets.* That will certainly brighten up your Home Screen. And maybe even your day!

But that's not all!
• The whole app just looks better than before. The buttons that represent your rooms and lights are now alive with color and all screens work well with changes that were introduced in iOS 15.
• Getting bored by looking at the same app icons every day? In Settings, you can choose between a dark and light app icon.

* For now, this cool new feature only works on iOS 15. I'll keep looking for ways to bring the same effect to older versions of iOS as well.

"The One That Stays at Home"

In Settings you will now find an option to automatically return to the Home Screen after controlling your lights or setting a scene from a widget. This much requested feature is still experimental, so please try it out and let me know what you think.

But that's not all!
• When you open the app at a time that your connected bridge cannot be reached you will now see a message that will better describe what's happening, including an option to connect to another bridge.
• The button to delete a widget will now trigger a dialog that asks you to confirm your action first.
• Rooms with exactly two lights in them no longer behave weird when you try to control the lights.
• When you open the app by using a widget the list of scenes will no longer stay empty.
• There's a new button in Settings to reload all rooms, zones, and lights from the current bridge.
• There's a new button in Settings to connect to another bridge.
