About myHarkness Modeller

Part of the brand new myHarkness platform, the myHarkness Modeller is a 3D simulation tool that allows architects, engineers and exhibitors to visualise and optimise digital cinema scenarios in a real-time virtual environment. The information-rich model rapidly created by the myHarkness Modeller enables key project stakeholders to make more informed decisions about digital cinema screen, projector and lamp choices before they’re even installed to ensure that these comply with industry standard brightness levels.

The myHarkness Modeller has been rigorously tested in both controlled and live cinema environments to confirm its accuracy. The tool however is dependent on the accuracy of data entered by the user which is then used to make a number of operating condition assumptions.

Whilst the results displayed in the Modeller are theoretically possible there are any number of variables which could alter the outcome significantly. Harkness Screens always recommends users consult with Harkness before applying the information supplied in the myHarkness Modeller in to real-world construction projects. Harkness Screens does not accept any liability for any loss incurred based on using the Digital Screen Modeller without any such consultation process.

Fixes address the following problems:
1. Lamp life estimation was being done wrong where the lumens weren’t being calculated properly when you switch between estimated brightness and simulation.
2. The values for the power setting and lamp life in the user interface were getting updated with different values after the simulation ended.
3. Simulation runtime would continue if you press either of the other buttons in the UI, not the pause button.

Nov 1, 2014
Release 4.5 of the Digital Screen Modeller contains the brand new Hot-spot Simulator tool which enables users to quick visualise screen uniformity. By using the screen curve and tilt tools, users are able to optimise uniformity and visualise the effect this has on screen brightness. Also featured in release 4.5 is the new Clarus XC 270 screen surface from Harkness Screens.

Visual Performance Indicator

A minimum of half of the peak brightness at the centre of the screen is deemed to be acceptable for viewing performance. The gain of the screen affects the peak brightness and indeed the way in which the light is redistributed back to the seating area. The new visual performance indicator shows all the seats which achieve more than half of the peak brightness. Using this tool allows you to quickly optimise the auditorium to achieve suitable brightness and light distribution.

Lamp Life Simulator

Once built, use the brand new lamp life simulator tool to replicate the performance of a xenon lamp through its life. Designed to simulate the light lock facility on a d-cinema projector, as lamp hours increase, lumen output falls and power increases. With the Lamp Life Simulator you can quickly gauge how long your projection setup can maintain DCI compliance.

Improved Seating Configuration

Both the front and rear seating areas can now be raked independently of each other to more accurately simulate true world auditoriums and give more flexibility in design.

Projection Port Height Calculation

The projection port height can now be set from the true floor of the auditorium as well as the height of the floor of back row of the seating area. So whether working from CAD drawings or in-field measurements, obtaining the correct port height is now easier than ever.

Additional Enhancements

Improved multiple projector options, screen size inputs, update manufacturer content including MasterImage Horizon3D and MasterImage Horizon3DS and performance improvements make release 4.0 the best yet.

Now includes bi-directional functionality with the newly released Digital Screen Calculator

Re-use the data entered in to the Digital Screen Modeller to further evaluate your equipment choices in the Digital Screen Calculator. With one-click functionality, data can be moved into the Calculator to quickly analyse equipment choices to ascertain achievable brightness and potential operating cost savings from screen choice. Likewise, datasets already created in the Digital Screen Calculator can quickly be transferred to the Digital Screen Modeller to run 3D simulations. (Note this functionality only works on the same software platform and requires both apps to be installed on the same device).
