About One.Thing.Less

Do you know what really happens to your personal information when making a purchase, signing up for newsletters, or logging onto a free wireless connection? There is little transparency, and who has the time to find out anyway?

We believe that privacy is a fundamental human right. But to protect it and establish trust you need to know what is happening in your digital life. Our app empowers you to take control over the use of your personal data in a way that is simple, free and secure. Giving you One.Thing.Less to think about.

And while new data protection laws such as the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are catalysts for change, these rights mean very little if you can’t claim them easily.

So instead of you having to do all the work of researching and contacting each company individually to get the information you should know, we offer a simple solution. With one click we approach companies on your behalf and ask seven important questions about how they use your data. Questions such as: if they have your personal data, if they share it with others, if they profile you, or track your location. We do not ask for nor want the personal data itself. We simply help you to get answers to these questions. We notify you once the companies respond, and you can easily review their answers and ask to change what you don’t like. And if they don’t respond, then you decide if or how this changes your relationship with them and if this is a reason to distrust them.

Ask what matters.
ASK with just one click for insights regarding the use of your personal data from a range of market-leading companies, and review their answers.

Ask who matters.
Well-known businesses with many customers. Unknown data brokers. No need to spend time looking for their contact information yourself. With a simple click we approach the companies you select and ask them the questions on your behalf. It’s that easy.

Know where you stand.
One real-time overview of all your active requests. No need to follow up yourself. With your permission, we even notify you every time a company responds to you. Simple as that.

Evaluate at a glance.
We consolidate all responses into one simple overview for you. Easy.

Act and make changes.
See something you don’t like? Act with just one click by making informed choices about the use of your personal data by companies, and we contact the company on your behalf with your request to change. This is all within the remit given by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union.

Feel secure.
We collect and process just the minimum level of data on our platform. We only use the email address you provide us as the unique identifier for companies to find your personal data in their systems. And we use a secure two-step authentication procedure to verify it. We don’t need or want your phone number, address, birthday, passwords or other personal data. Plus: you can delete your account with us at any time and be irrevocably erased from our systems. Clear and simple.

Trust the trusted auditor.
Trust is important to us. Many companies claim they do what they promise and hope that you believe them. We have gone one step further to earn your trust and commissioned Ernst & Young to audit our services based on the ISAE 3000 standards. This attestation among others covers user verification, authorization of One.Thing.Less by the individual users and all other core processes of the One.Thing.Less platform service. With this audit, you can rest assured that what we promise is what we deliver. Simply nothing to hide.
