CR is expanding the Green Choice program to include washing machines with other home appliances to follow. App users will see the green leaf icon on washing machines that are among the top 20 percent of all machines in CR’s ratings. This designation is based on several characteristics which may include materials used to build the appliance, water and energy use, reliability of the equipment, and how gentle it is on the laundry. Look for the Green Choice (with green leaf) designation on Consumer Reports ratings and models screens.
