About ShopIt - Grocery Shopping List

ShopIt is the shopping checklist app for the iPhone and iPad. It provides an uncluttered view of your lists and items without distracting advertisements. The app stores lists locally on your device and synchronizes your lists between your devices using cloud storage. ShopIt lets you share any of your lists using secure invitations you can send with AirDrop, email, or text message. You don't have to share a list, you can keep it private. If you chose to share a list, you can easily revoke someone's privilege to access it. You're in control of your lists!

Recipes go hand in hand with grocery shopping. If you see a recipe you like while browsing the web using Safari, you can quickly send the recipe information from the cooking site to ShopIt by tapping the sharing button. When you launch ShopIt the recipe name, ingredient list, instructions, prep/cook/total times, website URL and notes have been captured; left behind are all the advertisements. ShopIt uses powerful search techniques to match the ingredients in the recipe to grocery items you've already purchased. A quick tap of the + button will add any new ingredients to your kitchen inventory. When you want to make a recipe you can add needed ingredients to your shopping list in a flash. You can change the number of servings and ShopIt recalculates the ingredient quantities.

You can create and share wish lists with your friends and family. They get to see what is on your list and get alerted by Apple's push notification service when you add or change the list or when someone buys a gift, but all the purchase information is hidden from you so you're still surprised!

Everyone loves adding tasks to someone else's to-do list. ShopIt provides To-Do Lists. Now you can create that 'honey do' list and share it with someone special, create as many task lists for others or personal lists to organize your to-do's. ShopIt notifications make it easy to keep abreast of new and changing tasks and progress on assignments you have delegated.

Features:

* Create any number of lists.
* Organize your list with categories and organize categories to match locations in the store.
* Cut, copy and paste items from one list to another.
* A powerful context sensitive search lets you find items in a long list.
* ShopIt retains your shopping history, making it easy to plan your next visit to the store.
* When you plan recipes ShopIt adds notes about the recipe's quantity requirements to your shopping items.
* Share recipes with family and friends.
* You can hide infrequently used items, deciding what to hide with a setting from 1 to 36 months. Quickly reveal the older items when planning a shopping trip by tapping the expand button for a category to reveal the rarely used items. The search feature also finds hidden items -- they are gone, but not forgotten.
* When you're shopping at the store, the app optionally hides items as you check them off so you can quickly see what's left to buy. ShopIt even keeps a count of the number of items in your cart, so you can tell if you can use the 20 items or less checkout line. You won't want to go to the grocery store without it!
* Wish list items let you add a priority and web link to shopping items so your friends know exactly what you want. Post items from Safari or other apps that provide website links right into your wish lists using the built-in share extension.
* Purchasers can click on the web link to bring up the item's page in Safari.
* To-do lists let you organize and keep track of priorities, progress, start and finish dates for all your tasks.
* Apple Watch support lets you leave your phone in your pocket while at the store. Quickly check off items as they go in the cart and see what's next to buy as ShopIt hides the checked item.

Note: You can use most of the ShopIt features (except backing up your lists to our servers) without creating an account with One in a Million Apps LLC. Registering is completely optional.

* Folders
Folders add the same great organizational features to recipes that Categories provide for shopping, wish and to-do lists. You can order your folders however you like (e.g. favorite recipes first, then breakfast recipes, salads, new and interesting, ...), collapse (to hide) and expand (to reveal) recipes in your catalog, move recipes from one folder to another with edit drag-and-drop, and a powerful search function that finds recipes using partial word matches in the title and optionally ingredients.

* Recipes (from V4.0+).
Recipes go hand in hand with grocery shopping. If you see a recipe you like in Safari while browsing, you can quickly send the recipe information from the cooking site to ShopIt by tapping the sharing button. In ShopIt, tap the Recipes button and you’ll see all your recipes including any newly imported ones. ShopIt captures the recipe name, ingredient list, instructions, prep/cook/total times, website URL and notes. When you want to plan your meals, tap the shopping cart button at the bottom of the recipe page to select the needed ingredients to be added to your grocery list. ShopIt uses powerful search techniques to match the ingredients in the recipe to grocery items you’ve already purchased. On the recipe shopping page, each ingredient is displayed along with the grocery item matched to it. Checkmark the ingredients you need to purchase and they are added to your grocery list along with comments about the quantities required by each recipe. Import your recipes from hundreds of websites. Cooking is so much easier with ShopIt.
You are not limited to recipes from the web. You can create your own recipes by entering the name, ingredients, and instructions manually. Ingredients are added in a natural language format (e.g. 3 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, 5 tbsp butter) and are easily copied and pasted from a document. Extra information like preparation and cooking times as well as notes can be saved.

* Stores.

Ever get frustrated because you shop at different stores and find the items located in different isles? This version of ShopIt lets you associate stores with your lists and customize each store. Represent shopping isles as categories and you can include a different set of categories for each store. For each store you can select the sequence that you go through the isles in by moving categories up or down.
For each item at the store, you can select what isle it is in. For example, you are shopping at the grocery store near work and the maple syrup is in the cereal isle. Next time you are shopping at the store near home and syrup is in the jelly isle. ShopIt handles this by letting you put items in the different isles for different stores. If there are items on your shopping list that are only available at a particular store, ShopIt displays the name of the store and those items.

Barcodes!
* You can now scan barcodes instead of typing the name of shopping list items. When you scan a barcode, ShopIt queries a public community based database containing 1.9 million codes for the name and description of an item.

Fixes in V2.4:
* Editing Quantity on Watch -- If you edited the purchase quantity using the watch, the quantity was changed internally, but the number displayed on the watch was still the old value.
* Purchased Items not Hidden on Watch -- If you tapped an item on the watch while shopping and you have Hide Checkmarked Items enabled, the item wouldn't disappear as quickly as it should have.
* Cut, Copy, & Paste -- If you selected multiple items to Cut from a list only the first item was removed and if you Pasted multiple items, only the first was added. Also, the clipboard wasn't being cleared before Cutting or Copying items, so it would continue to accumulate items.

* Apple Watch Support!
When you install ShopIt on your Apple Watch, your phone synchronizes your shopping and to-do lists with your watch making shopping even easier. You can leave your phone in your pocket and breeze through the store checking off items as they go in your cart. ShopIt hides checked items so at a glance you can see what's next to buy.

* Shopping List Cart Count.
The main shopping lists scene shows a shopping bag with the number of items planned for purchase. This feature, at a glance, lets you see what lists have unpurchased items.

* Default To Do Category.
The default category for to-do items is now 'Miscellaneous'; which makes more sense than 'Somewhere'.

* Long Item Names.
Long item names are handled better when you turn the phone to landscape mode and on wide screen displays like the iPad.

Everyone loves adding tasks to someone else's to-do list. ShopIt expands it's strength in list sharing by providing To-Do Lists. Now you can create that 'honey do list' and share it with a special someone, create as many task lists for others or personal lists to organize your to-do's. ShopIt notifications make it easy to keep abreast of new and changing tasks and progress on assignments you have delegated.

This latest version includes a streamlined interface that shows list items as soon as the list is selected and provides toolbar buttons for secondary features. There are now buttons for shopping, managing categories, sharing lists, and viewing shopping history.

Previously, shared wishlists were displayed with the owner's full name as well as the list name. Now the app displays just the owner's first name (if it is unique) and the list name.

In version 1.4, you had to select a wish item to see if a friend had already purchased it. Now wish items are grayed out if the item has been purchased.

The item menu button now brings up a dialogue box letting you select between delete and reordering items, cut/copy/pasting items, selecting all items, or clearing all check marks.

Cut, copy, & paste has been expanded to work for all types of lists. You can even copy and paste items from different list types.

Fixes:

* Fixed a crash when syncing included a list type not supported by current version.

* Fixed crash if trying to email a sharing invite without first creating the invitation. Now ShopIt automatically creates sharing invite if you tap the sharing button without creating an invite.

* Accepting an invite without being registered could result in the invitation getting lost.

* Fixed a bug where a wish item posted by another app wasn't displayed when you finished editing a different item and returned to the wishlist.

* If an item name was extremely long, it would be displayed, but in a font too small to read. Now long names are handled more intelligently.

Posting items to your wishlists.

ShopIt now allows you to add items to your wishlists from other apps. You can browse your favorite shopping sites using Safari and when you see an item you like, tap the app's share button to bring up the ShopIt sharing extension. From the extension, you can choose to post the item to an existing wishlist or create a new list and save it there. After you post the item, you're still at the site to keep shopping and posting more items. When you launch ShopIt all your items will be on your wishlists. You can post items from from any app that shares web links using their share button.

How-To video.

There's now a How-To video showing the shopping list features of ShopIt. To view the video tap the ? button (About) on the top screen, then select Help on the About screen. The link to the video is at the bottom of the page. The video explains the app basics and demonstrates some advanced features like how to cross an item off your shopping list because it was out of stock or you changed your mind about purchasing it. The video shows how to share a list with family and friends.

Wish lists! You can now create and share wish lists with your friends and family. They get to see what is on your list and get notified by Apple's push notification service when you add or change the list or when someone buys a gift (minimizing duplicate items), but all the purchase information is hidden from you so you're still surprised!

ShopIt lets you describe your wish items with a name, notes, priority, quantity, and a web link. You can use categories to organize items.

Improvements have been made to notifications. You now can view change notifications while you are using the app.
