About Speaker Meter

This App is the easiest way to measure frequency response of your loudspeakers.
It seriously evolved since first concept to concentrate on basics: provide in 3 clicks and 1 minute a complete overview of the frequency response of your HiFi system.
It does NOT work with AirPlay / Bluetooth speakers.

How it works:
1/ point towards the speaker you want to monitor first
2/ select left or right speaker icon to send a white noise signal to your HiFi system (provided you connected your iDevice to it through a wired connection *)
Within few seconds, the recording will stop automatically and results will be stored internally
3/ repeat steps 1 & 2 for the other speaker
4/ select your prefered option to export results

(*) take care that AirPlay does not support "Play and Record" types of applications. But if you cannot use a wired connection, any white noise source will work

This App was seriously designed for my own needs: I am a signal processing expert.
If your need is an audio generator, try this App: "Diapason Audio Generator".
If your need is a full-featured soundmeter, try this one: "SPLnFFT Noise Meter".

Some ads appear from version 3.5 but current users should not worry: 'buy' the new in-app purchase option (which is free right now) and they will disappear.
So go to 'i' page top right, select 'Get advanced features' and then 'buy' the option.

Now pictures are inserted in the mail. The mail button itself is disabled when the application is busy either producing or recording or processing data.
Updated wrt audio buffer, which improves reactivity and reduces slightly the duration of the measurements with sweep (thus no impact on measurement time with white noise).

Mar 8, 2010
Previous version introduced an offset of 9dB on results for measurements with white noise source. This is corrected now (see new sample images).
Info buttons were slightly modified to be more sensitive.
1.2
Mar 4, 2010
Processing of white noise signal was deeply re-considered.
A real time FFT was added for that purpose.
Although the overall processing time was increased, a first result is available immediately thanks to this real time FFT.
An averaging process is done to smooth the response.
As a result, the quality of the response to white noise is much improved. Other ways of measurement are not impacted.
Additional modification: the screen keeps active.
1.1
Feb 17, 2010
Main improvement: measurement results can be automatically saved and recalled. Check button "SAVE" in third tab for this purpose. That way, no more data lost during a phone call.
Other changes: new logo, CPU load reduced, the two values VOLume and COMPensation are now non-volatile, OS 3.1.3 used for compilation
