Stash Star Fabric

This version adds support for iOS 12 and Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad offerings.

We’ve added a new “filter” screen that gives you more powerful options for searching your fabrics. We’ve removed the three-color limit for fabrics and provide more hues to choose from when creating your own colors.

This version gives you the option to customize the information you record about your fabrics. Say you want to track where your fabrics were made; it’s easy to add a new “Country” attribute to record that. Or maybe you don’t want to track the pattern size of your fabrics? Go ahead and remove the “Pattern size” attribute. Plus you can rearrange the attributes to get whatever layout you like best. It’s all easy to do with the new attribute editor in Stash Star Fabric 6.0.

Additionally, the "Export fabrics" option has a new format that should make it easier to export your fabrics to other apps.

Stash Star Fabric 5.0 has a bunch of new features you’re going to want to try out.

Fabrics have a new “Pattern type” attribute. You can use “Pattern type”—along with the newly-improved “Pattern size” attribute—to classify your fabric patterns more precisely.

Fabrics also have a new “Tags” attribute that you can use for, well, anything! You can create and assign tags to your fabrics to help you find fabrics in your stash. We’ve included some tags as examples but tags are completely customizable for your particular needs.

Speaking of customizable, all of the lists in Stash Star Fabric (such as "Fabric type") can now be rearranged. Rather than leaving the lists in alphabetical order, you can now rearrange the items in the lists to whatever order you like. Plus, when you display your fabrics in groups, the order of the groups matches the order you specify in the list.

Sharing your fabrics is even easier. Many more sharing options are available when you export your fabrics.

This release has additional improvements to the user interface and includes support for the iPhone X.

This release adds support for iOS 11.

We’ve added three big features to Stash Stash Fabric in this release:

• Each fabric can have up to five photos. We’ve also improved the process for adding photos.
• You can quickly move from fabric to fabric without returning to the fabric collection.
• iPad users will see a new layout that makes better use of the larger iPad screen.

Now you can view your fabrics grouped by length from small to large. Just tap the "Group" button and select Length. Fabrics are grouped by meters, yards, and item count. Need four or more yards (meters) of fabric? Scroll down to the 4 yds (4 m) section to see all your fabrics with lengths from 4 - 5 yards (4 - 5 m). It's that simple!

We’ve improved the processing of fabric pictures with this update, improving performance, reducing memory usage, and eliminating memory-related problems that could cause the app to unexpectedly exit in some circumstances.

New with version 3.3, save your fabric pictures to your photo library or share them with others via text message, email, and more. Just tap on the fabric picture to access the new options.

We've also added some help screens to help you use Stash Star Fabric to its fullest.

Colors

Don’t like the set of colors built into Fabric? Now it’s easy to define your own colors. Simply pick a shade that best represents your color and give it a name. You can then use your new color in your fabrics.

You can now assign up to three colors to a fabric, one main color and two secondary colors. Note that if you group your fabrics by color, they will be grouped by the fabric’s main color. If you want to see all your fabrics that contain a particular color, use the search option to search for that color.


Duplication

Entering a large number of fabrics can be tiring. The new fabric duplication feature can help. Simply select a fabric similar to one you want to enter and press the “Duplicate” button at the top of the screen. The fabric’s details will be duplicated to a new fabric. Change the attributes of the new fabric that are different from the original. Your new fabric is ready, simple as that!


Email

Want an easy way to share fabrics with your friends? We’ve added a new “Email fabrics” option just for you. Select the fabrics you wish to send by using the search field and “star” options—or clear both to send all your fabrics. Then specify which fabric attributes (name, fabric content, etc.) you want to include. Finish off the message with a personal note and tap “Send”. We’re sure your friends will be delighted to receive an email message with your fabulous fabrics!

You can now edit the lists for fabric width, fabric type, and fabric content. We’ve tried to add many of the most common entries, but if we’ve missed something you can now add it yourself.

We’ve changed how fabric yardages are entered. Now you can enter lengths by yards or meters. And since Charm Squares, Jelly Rolls, and other specialty cuts don’t have a length, you can enter a count instead of a length.

Please note: The first time you run version 2.0 your fabrics will be updated to take advantage of the new features in this version. This process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the number of fabrics in your collection and the type of iPhone or iPad you're using. During this time you'll see a "spinning gear" displayed on the screen. Please be patient and wait for the process to complete. Here are some of the new features and improvements in version 2.0 we think you’re going to really like.


Completion suggestions

Do you find yourself tapping in the name of your favorite fabric store or fabric designer over and over for each new fabric you enter? Then “Completion suggestions” is perfect for you. Start tapping a name and a list of names you’ve entered previously appears. Simply tap the one you want and you’re done! Completion suggestions work with many of the fields you enter for your fabrics and will save you a lot of time adding fabrics to your collection.


Location

We’ve added a new “location” field for your fabrics. If you’re like us, you’ve got fabric stored all over the house. Now can you can record where you’ve put what. Can't find that perfect fabric for your new quilting project? Check the “location” field.


Starred fabrics

Now you can “star” select fabrics in your stash. Then when you view your collection you can limit what you see to just those fabrics you “starred”.

Why would you want to “star” a fabric? With starred fabrics you can group your fabrics in a way that is tailored to your specific needs. For example, you can use starred fabrics:

• as a way to quickly find your favorite fabrics
• to put together a shopping list
• to select a group of fabrics to see how they’ll look together in a project
• as a wish list of fabrics you don’t have in your collection but would like to own

The possibilities are endless!


User interface improvements

We’ve made a number of improvements to Stash Star Fabric to make it even easier to use. While both iPad and iPhone users will benefit from the changes, iPad users in particular will see a big improvement in operation, with more popover windows and fewer transitions to new screen views.
