About Too Noisy Pro

This is a fun app that children enjoy and respond to. It's a real boon to any adult who needs to control the levels of noise of a group of children.

For the responsible adult it is like having a virtual assistant with you, constantly monitoring noise levels and letting the children know in a fun and engaging way if noise levels have reached an unacceptable level.

In tests we have found when using this app with groups of children peer pressure alone is generally sufficient to control noise levels.

Summary of Features

• Displays graphically the background noise level in a room in a fun and engaging way.

• Allows the tolerable noise level to be adjusted to cater for those "louder activities" as well compensating for banging doors and other sudden noises with the "sensitivity" and "dampening" sliders.

• When the predefined noise level is exceeded for more than 3 seconds:

1) An audible Alarm is sounded (this can be switched ON or OFF)

2) The App appears to shatter the screen of the Device (this can be switched ON or OFF)

3) A counter, displayed on the noise meter, is incremented by one. Keeping track of the number of “Too Noisy" alarms.(this can be switched ON or OFF)

• There is a built-in "Star Awards" rewards system. It can operated in two modes:

- Achievement Mode
In this mode a Star is awarded each time the Class keep their noise under control for a pre-determined period of time. This can be from 1 to 15 minutes.
Normally, if the class triggers the alarm in this mode they will lose the Star currently running, however, there is also a switch that, if set to ON, will remove an additional Star every time the Class cause the “Too Noisy” alarm to be triggered.If students get all 10 stars a "Super Star Award" is displayed. Stars can also be manually Awarded and removed by the responsible adult.

- Session Mode
In this mode the Teacher sets the length of time for a complete session. This can be any length of time. Perhaps for a full lesson (e.g. 1 hour 10 minutes) or for a time period set to complete a specific task (e.g. 20 minutes).
The app will take the session time and divide it by 10 (the maximum number of Stars that can be Won in any one session). The Stars are then awarded at that rate. For example if the Teacher sets the session time to 60 minutes then one Star Awards will be awarded every 6 minutes (60 minutes / 10 Stars = 6 minutes per Star)

• Keep things fresh with over 200 Dial / Background Theme combinations

• The "Alarm Counter" can be reset or disabled completely.

If the noise level is acceptable a happy smiling contented graphic is displayed. If the levels of noise increase beyond what the responsible adult has determined as acceptable, the graphic changes to reflect the unacceptable noise level. Once the level of noise returns to an acceptable level the graphic automatically returns to the happy contented one, however, if the volume of noise remains unacceptably high for more than 3 seconds...an audible alarm is sounded (this can be turned on and off) and the screen of the device appears to shatter! Also, the "Alarm Counter" on the meter is incremented by one (this can be zeroed at any time with a reset button).

We think this is a pretty cool update, we have added suport for the latest Apple devices and iOS version. There is now a "Calibrate" button in "Too Noisy Pro". Often, in different environments, there is a level of background noise that can be considered normal. This might be the constant drone of traffic on a freeway, or noise generated from local industry, even noise generated by different classes within the building. By tapping the "Calibrate" button these "low level background" noises are cancelled out, and not included for display on the "Too Noisy" meter. To operate the "Calibrate" button, simply ask the class to remain silent and then tap the button. The app will sample the noise levels for a 10 second period. The app is calibrated for that level of background noise and can be used as normal. The only noise that should register on the Noise Meter is the noise above the level of background noise just recorded.

We have also improved the "Settings" interface to make it easier for users, as well as adding a great new "Penguin Theme".....Enjoy!

We are really excited about this upgrade for 2017. We have added a "Session Timer" option so Teachers can now set a fixed period of time for the classroom noise to be monitored. If the class keep there noise levels under control for the complete session they can earn 10 Stars! There is a timer bar so all the class can see how long they have left.

We have also added an extra 3 Background themes and 3 new Dial themes to keep things fresh, so that is 120 Theme combinations with more to come... and all FREE to existing users

Fixed a bug where, under specific circumstances, the award of a “Star” could trigger the removal of a Star. Thanks to those who provided feedback on that issue.

Probably one of our best updates Yet!...we are really pleased with this one!
This update gives the user control of when both, the warning backgrounds and when the Alarm backgrounds / Audible Alarm are triggered.

When this feature is combined with the existing Sensitivity and Damper settings it really does give the user complete control over the app.

We have also changed the timer on the Star Awards, so now when the user pauses the app or goes into the settings screen the countdown freezes on the "Star Award" that is currently being animated, rather than reverting back to the previous "Star Award"

Users have commented that it is not always obvious when the app has been paused, so we have added a "Paused" message that will display when the app is paused.

Thanks again to all those who have provided feedback for us. You really are helping to make the app better still.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and suggestions. We have added the following features based on your suggestions in this latest release.

• A graphical timer so students can see how close they are to earning the next "Star Award"

• Full support for the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus

• More Alarm Sounds to choose from (including some less intrusive ones). There are now 20 plus your own "recorded alarm"

• We have moved the "Reset Alarm Counter" to a more easy to find place on the main App Screen

• 3 more background themes. There are now 9 background themes to choose from. Giving a total of 63 theme combinations when combined with the 7 different dial themes.

• You can now switch the "Alarm Counter" ON or OFF

• We have optimised the "Settings Screen" layout to improve usability

We have been listening to feedback from the users of the Too Noisy app and have added 10 new features. All of them requested by users. We are really excited about this major new release of the app.

New features users will find include:

Damper

* Damper setting to help avoid the meter bouncing around when someone sneezes or a door slams etc. the damper effectively smooths the movement of the needle.

Star Awards

* Students are rewarded with "Star Awards" for keeping the levels of noise down for a period of time. There are 10 Star Awards to be won.

* The teacher can set the amount of time (between 1 minute and 15 minutes) that noise levels have to be contained before a "Star Award" is awarded.

* If the class has been particularly well behaved the teacher can share the number of star awards won via email.

* The teacher can also override the star awards by manually adding, or removing star awards.

* The Star Awards feature can be turned on or off.

* The teacher can also set it so that if the Alarm is triggered then a star award is automatically removed!

* The teacher can view the current number of star awards from the settings screen.

Available themes - There are now six different themes available:

* Smilie theme

* Cat theme

* Dog theme

* Christmas theme

* Halloween theme

* City scape theme - particularly suitable for older classes

New Options

* The screen cracking effect can now be switched on or off by the user.

* The audible alarms can also be switched on or off from inside the app.

* The amount of time an alarm sounds for can be controlled by the user (between 2 and 13 seconds)

* The "record your own alarm" function now saves your recorded alarm when you exit the app.
