About TrekRight: Camino Francés

TrekRight – Camino Francés is a comprehensive, incredibly handy mobile app for anyone walking or bicycling the historic Camino de Santiago (specifically, the Camino Francés and the extension from Santiago to Finisterre / Fisterra).

TrekRight includes an in-depth reference 'Trekopedia' (communities, albergues, attractions, services, points of interest, etc.), supports customizable routes, interactive maps (including detailed *offline* maps), directions and section-by-section guide, dynamic trip stats for your current section, stage, and route, an intelligent compass with a built-in yellow arrow that shows the right direction based on your current location and chosen route, and more.

--- The Right Information, When You Need It ---
Location-aware information – TrekRight provides you with information tailored to your current location. If you are approaching Puente la Reina, TrekRight will tell you how far you still have to go, what attractions are available around you, where you can find a water fountain, options for where to stay the night, easy access to interactive elevation profile charts, and clear, detailed directions. You can easily see what things you flagged as interesting, which things you added notes to, and which you marked as favorites. Real-time information that keeps you completely on top of things!

--- Caminopedia ---
TrekRight’s ‘Camino Encyclopedia’ is packed with extensive interactive reference information, organized into Communities, Shelters, Attractions, Services, Points of Interest, and Route Sections. Everything can be searched and filtered, viewed on a map, notes can be added (anything from a simple reservation number to a copy-and-pasted blurb from a website), and more. Handy information (literally) at your fingertips!

--- Interactive Offline Maps ---
Powerful, flexible map that displays your current location on your selected route along with pins showing all the locations included in the Caminopedia (just touch a pin to open its related Caminopedia entry). Easily filter and do searches. Detailed, high-quality offline maps are included, so you have full access to maps even without Internet access. When you do have an Internet connection, online maps are also available which can be configured to show street maps, satellite view, terrain, or a hybrid. Completely transform how you ‘see’ your surroundings on the Camino.

--- Intelligent Compass ---
In addition to all the standard compass functionality, TrekRight’s intelligent compass also points you in the right direction based on your current location and your selected route, and updates dynamically as you move. Two special compass indicators are available – one points towards the end point of your current section (typically the next town on the route), and the other points which way you should go *now*, taking into consideration your current position and all the twists and turns in your route. Never get lost again!

--- Pre-Camino Planning & Preparation ---
TrekRight makes it easy to plan your route (including configuring the sections you want to follow), organize it into stages, and review distances and elevations (including a handy interactive Elevation Profile Chart). Comes pre-defined with popular routes including those touted by Brierley and Eroski. Review and rank albergues, flag locations of interest, add your own notes, and more.

--- Up-To-Date Content ---
TrekRight’s content is regularly updated and expanded based on the latest information available to us. You can check for content updates directly inside TrekRight and download our database whenever it is convenient for you (even on the trail), without having to connect to the App Store. Always be up to date!

--- No Internet Connection Required ---
All of TrekRight's content is stored directly on your phone, including our detailed offline maps. No Internet connection is required!

# IMPORTANT: This update massively expands the Camino content. However, to do that we needed to change how all of the content is handled internally. A consequence of this is that all user data (routes, flagged items, favorites, and user notes) will be lost. Don't update to this version if you have user data that you don't want to lose. We're sorry for the inconvenience but hopefully all of the new content is worth it!

This update is mostly minor bug-fixing / tweaks. As mentioned above, the Camino content, though, has been massively expanded. TrekRight: Camino Francés now includes content for all of the Camino routes we cover, including the Primitivo, Finisterre, and Portugués. Content along the Francés has also been heavily updated, including lots more albergues. Note that the offline maps included with this app are only for the Camino Francés and the extension to Finisterre.

Our thanks to everyone who sent feedback and helped with testing. We have the best users! :-)
2.9
Sep 26, 2016
This update of TrekRight includes:
- Support for local languages in the interface (buttons, labels, and so on) - note, though, that the trail content itself is still only in English. Currently, Ukrainian and Russian (in addition to English) have been implemented. More to come!
- Various updates to support the new iOS 10.
- Small bug-fixing and minor tweaks.
2.8
Sep 6, 2016
This update of TrekRight includes:
- New, more attractive map icons.
- Many content updates and additions (including additional albergues).
- Small bug-fixing and minor tweaks.

Note: when you update TrekRight, all of your 'user content' (notes, ratings, favourites, custom routes, and so on) are all retained. Only the underlying app and our Camino content is updated.
2.4
May 9, 2016
Bug-fixing to address a crash that can sometimes occur in the Maps module.
2.3

--- New ---
In the Routes module, you can now duplicate any existing route to use as a 'starting point' when creating your own custom version. To create a duplicate, simply open up the Route Summary screen for that route (just tap on its name in the Routes listing) and then press 'Duplicate' in the upper-right corner. A duplicate will be created and TrekRight will switch the view to it automatically.

--- New ---
TrekRight now supports iOS's Spotlight search feature. Now, when you do a Spotlight search on your iPhone or iPad it will include results from TrekRight's content. This is really handy when you want to quickly look something up -- you can usually find it faster via Spotlight than you could inside TrekRight itself! Once you've found what you are looking for, just tap on it to open the item in TrekRight. For example, type "Community Sarria" and you'll see it listed for easy access.

This works even if TrekRight isn't running and it works entirely offline!

If you haven't used Spotlight yet, you're missing out on one of iOS's best features - to activate Spotlight, just swipe downwards from near the top of your screen. Note, for Spotlight searches to work with TrekRight you need an iPhone 5 or later, plus iOS 9 or later.

--- New ---
Both metric & imperial distances are now supported. For all computed values, TrekRight will now display the distances in the same measurement system as defined in the 'Region' setting of your phone. For example, if your phone's region is set to 'United States', you'll see miles and feet. If set to 'France', you'll see kilometres and metres. If you want the values shown differently while on the trail, just change your 'Region' setting.

For values in the written text, we've begun converting all values to display in both metric and imperial. This will likely take us a little while though.

--- New ---
When you follow a link to something outside of TrekRight (a website, tapping a phone number, tapping an address, and so on), the other app will include a return link to TrekRight. It is no longer necessary to re-start TrekRight to return to where you were.

--- Improved ---
Links between content items now have a distinct blue dot before the name to make them stand out better. Links that go to the web, on the other hand, will not have those blue dots. In addition to making it easier to spot our internal links, the blue dot also makes it clear which links are local (thus not requiring any Internet access / data usage) and which are external.

--- Improved ---
Notes are now displayed much better in any Notes Listing. Now, the name of the item to which the note is associated is listed along with when the note was created and the first line of its text. This saves you from having to open the note to find out what item it belongs to. Tip: when reading a note, if you ever want to open up the item that the note belongs to then just tap on the little icon at the bottom-center of the screen.

--- Updated ---
Much of the Camino content has been tweaked, especially in the route sections. Also, a new pre-defined route has been added: Sarria to Santiago.

--- Fixed ---
Several minor bugs have been fixed.

As always, thanks to everyone who provided feedback on TrekRight -- it makes a huge difference!

NOTE: When you update TrekRight, all of the ‘reference’ information will be replaced with our updated content. However, your own data is not affected. Thus, any notes you’ve added or any routes you’ve defined or modified will still be there. The same applies to any ‘Ratings’, Flags, or other values that you can change (user information is stored separately and thus is not affected by updates to the app).

IMPROVED: Routes Module
If you want to customize one of the pre-built routes (such as the popular Brierley or Eroski routes), it is now much easier and more flexible. Choose where you want to start and finish and select which sections you want to use (not everyone wants to walk the same exact route). Easily adjust the stage breaks to suit your own speed and preferences. And more.

ADDED: Santiago 'City Walk'
We've created an in-depth 'city walk' of Santiago de Compostela, including a route that appears on the Map, details about just about every notable attraction in the city, and so on. There's also an ebook version of the guide available (free) on our website. To do the 'city walk', just select it in the Routes listing.,

ADDED: Offline Maps
Our most requested feature: TrekRight now supports high-quality, comprehensive offline maps in addition to our regular Internet-based imagery. With offline maps you no longer need Internet access while on the Camino to see map imagery. These maps are scalable (you can zoom in and out) and provide the same sophisticated interactivity as our regular maps. To use them, you need to first download them while you have Internet access (the file is currently about 110mb) - simply press on the "Offline Maps" item on the More menu. After that, the maps are stored on your phone. You can force the use of offline imagery via the Configuration screen in the Map module.

ADDED: Clear All Ratings
We've added a command to the More menu to clear all Ratings in the Caminopedia. This enables you to reset the ratings so that you can 'start over' with only your own ratings. Handy if you want to assign all ratings yourself based on your pre-Camino research.

FIXED: A handful of minor bugs have been fixed and there have been small tweaks throughout TrekRight.

CONTENT: Updates to Caminopedia
We are continuing to actively update many of the Caminopedia items for the Camino Frances, and especially the information on albergues. Lots of updates have been made to items throughout the Caminopedia. Since v1.5, we've also added full support for the extended path from Santiago to Finisterre / Fisterra (including with offline maps).

Let us know if you encounter any problems or want to recommend new features. TrekRight is being actively worked on, so your feedback and ideas are always greatly appreciated.

——————
CONTENT: Updates to Caminopedia
We are continuing to actively update many of the Caminopedia items for the Camino Frances, and especially the information on albergues. Lots of updates have been made to items throughout the Caminopedia.

ADDED: Google Street View is now supported when viewing maps. To go into Street View mode, long-press on the map (i.e. press and hold for a moment). If Street View is available, a menu option will appear asking if you want to switch to it. This is particularly handy when in an albergue and 'looking ahead' to your next day.

ADDED: Added option to display off-route sections in the map view. These are shown in a different line color to distinguish them from your active route. By default, this option is disabled — open the Map module's config screen to toggle this option.

TWEAKED: Improved the visual appearance of the Status bar in the Caminopedia to look better in iOS 7.

FIXED: Corrected some major stability problems that affected some users (causing TrekRight to exit unexpectedly).

FIXED: For some users, Contact details in the Caminopedia were not being displayed with the correct label. This has been corrected.

FIXED: In the various 'listings' screens in the Caminopedia, the filtering functionality wasn't working properly (not all filtering options were being displayed). Corrected.

See our app website (www.TrekRightInc.com) to report any problems you encounter or to recommend new features. TrekRight is being actively worked on, so your feedback and ideas are always greatly appreciated.
