About Your Diabetes Guardian

Your Diabetes Guardian is an innovative disease management app that allows a parent or guardian to remotely control and monitor the management of diabetes in their child. This is particularly useful when the child is at school, at camp, on holiday or otherwise separated from their parent or guardian.

This app uses two communicating iPhones to exchange data in real time.
The parent or guardian can set up a daily schedule of 1 to 4 parameters; glucose measurements, insulin dosage, carbohydrate intake and exercise. Sub-parameters can also be scheduled within an exercise period.
Schedules can be designed for a single day or to repeat daily, on weekdays or on weekends.
The schedule set by the parent resides on the parent’s phone and is automatically transferred to the child’s phone.

The child uses their phone to record daily measurements or activities as instructed on the schedule. This information is communicated in real time to the parent’s phone.
Failure by the child to execute a scheduled event will trigger an audible or visual alert on the parent’s phone. An alert will also be sent if the child enters an abnormal result.
All recorded data is stored on the phones where it may be reviewed or displayed as graphs.

Data is also stored on the parent web site (YourHealthRecord.com) where it exists within a health record, which is password protected and can be accessed by the parent or child.
This allows the diabetes data to be incorporated into an electronic health record with other health related information.
The health record also acts as backup storage of data in case phones are lost or damaged

The child can feel secure in the knowledge that the diabetes guardian is watching over them.
The parent can feel secure in the knowledge that they will be instantly alerted to any deviation from the schedule or any abnormal result.
