Zing Smart Night Light
Individually, each Zing is an awesome, full-color, plug-in night light with smartphone control and light effects. Packed with thoughtful features designed to help you see clearer, sleep better, and wake-up more refreshed. Zing is almost certainly the best night light ever made.

When used together as a system, Zing work together to learn routine and automatically illuminate your entire path. Conversely, Zing can notify you of unusual and suspicious movements via notifications on your phone. Zing can also act as a visual indicator for incoming calls and other smartphone events.

Over the last month we've completely redesigned the navigation in the app (surprise right?). We've switched from one large list of devices to a new tabbed navigation.

Tabs Explained:
- Nearby: In the first tab you can find all the devices that you are physically near. This means that these lights are in bluetooth range and you can interact with them individually.
- Sites: To the right of the nearby tab are the site tabs. Any site you create will have its own tab. For example if you have Zing Night Lights at your house as well at at a family member's house, each physical location will have a dedicated tab. On each of the site tabs there are two main areas, the information tiles, and the activity feed. The information tiles show important site-wide information such as the average temperature and alert status. The activity feed shows all the motion events in the last 48 hours with unusual activity highlighted.

Fixed some stability issues caused by the most recent update.
In particular:
- Fixed a bug where the app would sometimes crash if you deleted all the sites.
- Fixed an issue where scrolling on the widget list would change the orientation (added a lock button to lock the orientation unless you wish to change it)
- Fixed an issue where the geofence wouldn't save if you swiped the panel away (added an explicit save button to avoid confusion)

Wow, talk about an update that should have been split up into smaller updates. This update is focused primarily on site-level monitoring but there are improvements and features all over.

- Copy settings from one light to another
- Setup a geofence to automatically enable and disable alerts for a site
- Monitor movement on a site-wide timeline from anywhere
- Monitor where the most recent movement was at a site
- Monitor the average temperature at a site from anywhere
- Honestly, there's definitely more but it's hard to remember all the small things.

As with all new features, there will be bugs and we hope to roll out quicker updates that address any issues that come up.

So you know how we said we fixed the update firmware bug......yeaaaaaah so we actually didn't. But now it is fixed. The bug would only show up in app store releases and not in a development environment. That's why we didn't detect it. Now we have tested in a production environment and it appears to be fully resolved. Updates should also now be faster as a bonus. We are still looking into ways to updated in the background or update multiple devices at once.

We also added a new menu at the top where you can submit feedback.

This update started as mostly bug fixes but ended up being a larger update.
We gave the app a fresh coat of paint that's pretty subtle in some areas and more obvious in others.
We also fixed a few bugs around updating the lights. The whole update process should be much more stable from now on.

This update aims to simplify things more as well well as make the app easier to interact with.
- The largest change is with sites. Adding sites is much simpler and moving lights between sites is done by long-pressing and dragging the lights around.
- The motion light preset can be set directly from the motion widget.
- The power loss light preset can be set directly from the new light settings widget.

We've been listening to feedback, and frankly, we're offended. Just kidding, we've heard you loud and clear. Many people said the app felt overly complex so we've tried simplify some parts but it still needs work.
At this stage we need as much feedback as possible. Positive, negative or downright cruel, we want it all.

You know the deal:
- Bug fixes and improvements

Fixed a bug where the app would crash on small screen sizes.
Reordered Presets to draw attention to important presets triggered by motion and predictive motion.

We've changed the light view to be more usable with one hand. Next time you connect to a light you will see a dock (we're not completely attached to that name) on the bottom of the screen where you can find important sensor information, the light's name and the back button. If you're like us, it may take a few minutes to get used to, but we think it really helps with the user experience as phones continue to grow...*cough* XS Max *cough*

- Crashes caused during firmware updates are fixed.
- Fixed issues with schedules running incorrectly
- The dashboard view has replaced the playground as the primary view. We feel that this view will be used more by users so putting it front and center only made sense.

Zzzzzzzz...We added a snooze function because sometimes, getting ten million motion notifications can get annoying. Now you can choose to mute notifications for 30 minutes, 2 hours or 4 HOURS.

Maybe it's because we use too many Zing lights but we realized that we needed a better way to group the devices that we use regularly. Now you can add devices to a "Site" which represents a physical location such as a house or maybe if you're the weird person at work, your office. This also allows the users who use Zing to monitor family members to separate their devices into different Sites. Oh and connecting to a device takes ~1/5 as long as before, no big deal.

The saying is correct, you certainly can have too much of a good thing. The capabilities of Zing are nearly infinite but sometimes simplicity is the most important feature. As the feature list has grown over the last few months we've generally just shoved things in our "Junk Drawer" side menu but enough is enough. In this update we have transformed this menu into a configurable Control Panel tailored to your specific light.

Everything Else:
- Movement Notifications are now working no matter where you are in the world. Well maybe if you're in North Korea you won't receive the push notification.
- You can now opt-in to send sensor data to your own personal cloud dashboard.
- Fixed some memory leaks that appeared out of thin air
- We moved presets around a bit so they are easier to access, sample, and replace.
- You can now snooze notifications easily on a light to light basis. Now your cat won't interrupt you during your important meeting every time they walk in front of your light.

"Yay, another update from the Zing app! All these features and tweaks they added in this update will be so cool when I can use the app with a light!"
Wow, thanks for that enthusiasm! Yes, we realize adding features and telling you about them is a bit cruel. That said, what are we going to do, stop making the app more awesome and less crash-y? Of course not.

Changes that you can try out right now:
I guess we changed how the tabs feel without any devices, that's cool right?

Everything else:
- Feature: You can now configure your light to play a preset (color, effect, brightness) when you get a phone call, get a text message, etc. We've added a lot of apps already and will continue to add more as we research what the kids are using these days.
- Feature: You can now update the firmware of your light right through the app. Firmware updates improve the operation of the device and allow us to add features on a device level.
- Improvement: The light orientation setting is now much easier to change. We spent an embarrassing amount of time completely redesigning it and trying to make if feel exactly like scratching a record. It's hard to explain but it's so fun you might forget it's just a boring setting.
- Testing: We are testing out remote access to zings. Right now, the app won't operate differently, but the groundwork is there to allow you to access your Zing from anywhere in the world. This is of course opt-in. If you want to keep your Zing off the grid it won't hurt our feelings.
- Bugs: None, the app has always been perfect and 100% stable.

Fixed: Well the app crashes less often....that's good right?
Fixed: Lots and lots of little "tweaks" (bug fixes, they're bug fixes).
Compromise: Access our shiny new app introduction straight from the settings, in case you have already skipped it but just want a refresher. We built the app and we still look through it on an hourly basis.
New: Presets now show you a rough preview of what the effect will look like
New: You can now toggle on/off motion in case you just want some peace and darkness, we realized we're weird and some people might not be as pumped about light 24/7
