کتاب سوانح ایام زندگی خودنوشت علامه برقعی رحمه الله می باشد. وی در ایتدای کتاب می گوید: راستش را بخواهید عده اي از دوستان و همفكران اصرار كردند كه اين حقير فقيرسيد ابوالفضل ابن الرضا برقعي، شرح احوال و تاريخ زندگي خود را به رشته‌ي تحرير در آورم و عقايد خود را نيز ضمن ذكر احوال خود بنگارم تا مفتريان نتوانند پس از موتم تهمتي جعل نمايند؛ زيرا كسي كه با عقايد خرافي مقدس نمايان مبارزه كرده دشمن بسيار دارد، دشمناني كه چون كسي را مخالف عقايد خود بدانند، از هر گونه تكفير و تفسيق و تهمت دريغ ندارند و بلكه اين كارها را ثواب و مشروع مي‌دانند!! و البته در كتب حديث نيز براي اين كار احاديثي جعل و ضبط شده است كه اگر فردي كم اطلاع آن روايات را ديده باشد مي‌پندارد كه آنها صحيح‌اند!
