吉林大学口腔医(学)院历史悠久，前身为1948年成立的原军医大学第二临床学院口腔科,1985年建立口腔医院,1989年成立口腔医学院。医(学)院于1976年招收首批口腔医学学员，1979年和2002年开始开办五年制口腔医学专业和七年制口腔医学专业。1981年口腔临床医学被遴选为硕士授权点，1993年被遴选为博士授权点，2000年被遴选为口腔医学博士专业学位授权点，2003年被遴选为一级学科博士点，2004年被批准设立博士后流动站。
吉林大学口腔医(学)院拥有一级省重点学科1个，拥有省卫生厅重点实验室、科技厅重点实验室、省发改委工程实验室和省教育厅重点实验室总计4个，2014年被遴选为吉林省国际合作研究基地和省口腔医学实验教学示范中心，2015年又被遴选为吉林省口腔医学特色专业。历经66年的建设发展,为东北地区乃至全国培养了一批优秀的口腔医学专业人才，为我国口腔医学事业的发展做出了贡献。
