About The Mystery Tree
The Mystery Tree is a fun way to learn about the animals on Edisto Island. Each of the featured twelve months highlights an animal that is native to this South Carolina island and just might be passing by this tree. (Plus 3 bonus animals) The Mystery Tree also introduces a secret surrounding this lone tree in the Edisto Island marsh.
Delicate watercolor illustrations by Dorothy Keach detail the whimsical decorations which have mysteriously appeared on the tree. Light-hearted themes and appealing animals pair with sweet rhymes to showcase each month. Dorothy's masterful paintings evoke the shifting palette of colors in the Edisto Island skies and marshes as the seasons change.
Candace Keach joins her mother, Dorothy, to write many of the poems and oversee the sound production. Candace, Dorothy and friends provide all the sound effects which are fun and easy for children to imitate! In addition, several of the months inspired Candace and Dorothy to include their own recordings of flute and piano!
This e-book is designed for all ages. Younger readers will enjoy hearing Dorothy read the poems aloud as only a former grade school teacher can!
