HUGE UPDATE!!! In addition to fixing numerous issues in the game, we have added 2 new Multiplayer modes: Tag and Capture the Flag. These new modes include 8 new tracks!
The multiplayer Race mode is still available as before, but the new modes are available as an in-app purchase for $0.99. If a Friend invites you to play one of the new modes it will let you join regardless, but to host or Auto-Match a Tag or Capture the Flag game you must have activated the new feature via the in-app purchase.

In order to make Auto-Matching easier the entire Multiplayer matching system has been rewritten. Now, the app chooses the track randomly for you and the entire sequence of joining a multiplayer game has been streamlined. The odds of finding an auto-matched game should be about 7x higher now. Additionally, when being invited to a Race you now know what track you are playing before choosing your car, so you can decide which car is best for that track.
