Division Diner

Division Diner is a super fun math game that helps children master division facts while building strong number sense! It is the OPPOSITE of "drill and kill"!

Children throw out pizzas and top them with mushrooms in an Italian restaurant, fill plates with sushi in a Japanese restaurant, or add dumplings to a bamboo steamer in a Chinese restaurant - and then write division equations that match their meal! Ten restaurants in all: Italian, Japanese, Mexican, American, Chinese, French, Indian, Ethiopian, Polish and Funky Fusion - filled with spaghetti, bento boxes, kielbasas, injeras, basmati rice, shrimp shao mai, tostadas, tuna sushi, falafel, bowls of pozole, hummus, pancakes, waffles, and much more! Children can decorate their restaurants with hundreds of fun furnishings.

Student practice is tracked, and a report can be emailed to a teacher or parent to document which math facts students have practiced. Progress can be tracked over time, as reports are available for the day, week, month or overall.

Why is the approach of Division Diner valuable for math learners? It's critical for children to master math facts with fluency. But we also know that rote memorization of facts and the stress of timed testing is unhelpful for many children. How do we help children master facts without anxiety, in a way that builds strong number sense?

Division Diner is an extremely engaging game that helps children develop fluency and master their math facts. But it does so in a way that builds children's understanding of what these facts mean (number sense) and without the anxiety associated with timings. And along with understanding, students become fluent in their division facts.
