About WOMAD NZ
WOMAD New Zealand is back in 2023 - 20 years after the first festival opened its gates and introduced music lovers to a global discovery of Music, Arts and Dance.
Over a million people from all walks of life have been part of the WOMAD NZ journey since it began in 2003.
After a two-year hiatus, the festival returns for three epic days of sounds, scenery, and good vibes. From 17-19 March 2023 the stunning Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Park, New Plymouth, Taranaki transforms to host one of the planet's longest-running and best-established cultural festivals.
With the borders open, WOMAD NZ 2023 will introduce audiences to eclectic artists from all over the globe.
The festival line-up has previously included international heavyweights Arrested Development, Alpha Blondy & the Solar System, Gurrumul, Gotan Project, Hanggai, Lemon Bucket Orchestra, Mahotella Queens, DakhaBrakha, Ezra Collective, Sinead O'Connor, De La Soul, and hundreds more.
WOMAD NZ 2023 will feature eight stages lined up with genre-spanning and mind-expanding acts, internationally renowned poets and authors, a crowd-popular poetry slam, cooking demos with muso's, a global village brimming with food, wellness, and retail, and of course, the incredible festival vibe in one of New Zealand's most spectacular, and award-winning, festival venues.
Rediscover the world and experience its goodness through music, multiculturalism, art, workshops, and food. People of all ages can discover and be exposed to new experiences, be enlightened, and build memories with their friends and whanau.
WOMAD 2023 is one of the most anticipated tickets on the festival calendar; with limited tickets on sale for 2023, don't miss the WOMAD NZ 2023, an epic 20-year celebration!
