All Forge trails are digitised and attributed - by our team - with pinpoint accuracy and are regularly updated with input from local conservation agencies and trail managers. With live GPS location, localised emergency contacts and calls, and the ability to download offline maps you can explore with confidence!
Navigate over 6,000 km of trails and 3,200 points of interest across South Africa packaged in simple, easy-to-use maps.

Easy to use and locate the info button for map information, Google Maps navigation to trailheads, bookmarks and the legend.
Layers button separated which allows the switching on and off of different layers; MTB, Dog-Walking and more. We will add in the recommended routes here too (watch this space).

The Forge app is a year old! To celebrate our first birthday, we’ve been hard at work during the lockdown to bring you our biggest update yet.

• Complete UI redesign - smoother more user-friendly design.
• Filter feature.
• Bookmarks feature (zoom to your favourite area/s).
• 3 new regions and 9 new reserves added with regular updates ongoing.
• Emergency call feature to area-relevant emergency numbers straight from the app.*

We’ve added an option to support us on the app and website via EFT or SnapScan. Currently, Forge is a labour of love and any contributions will massively help us map more trails, improve the data and spread the trail love.

No signal, no problem with OFFLINE MAPS! You asked, we delivered. We're trialling a beta version of offline maps. Sure there may be some bumps in the path but we'll smooth these out as we go along.
Following requests, we have increased the size of the text in the menu (regrettably the map text cannot be enlarged at this stage).
Other updates include:
- A more aesthetic user interface.
- Dedicated MOUNTAIN BIKING and DOG-FRIENDLY hikes maps.
- New menu items: Trail Journal and Grading Guide.
