About MyMusic - Control your music

PLEASE NOTE! This app does not provide you with any music, it just feeds off your music library that's been synced/downloaded to your device with the iTunes apps!

Ever wanted to give some of your music a break but not actually delete it from your iPhone so you can shuffle your whole collection without hearing them? Well I had that same problem to, so I made an app to get round it!

MyMusic will let you temporarily disable certain artists/albums/songs in your collection so that they don't get included while you're shuffling all the songs you DO want to listen to!

You can browse your songs by name, artist or album and listen to them just like the normal Music app. There's even a search feature for those of you with oodles (that means lots) of songs!

If, like me, you enjoy shuffling all your songs but don't like it when you get a load of the same artist playing a row, because you just crave variety, then you'll be glad to hear that this app, by default, has a smart shuffle feature to help avoid this! Or if you really like the chaos of true random shuffling you can turn off the smartness...

Anything YOU want to see in the app, just let me know!

iOS 10 updates, including artwork on the song notifications.

Siri can now announce each new song to you. If that interests you then you can turn on the 'Song announcer' option in the Settings screen.

Added 'Loop queue' setting so you can let your music stop at the end of the queue, good for listening to music when going to sleep and letting it stop after a while rather than looping all night!

Also other bug fixes and improvements!

Ok, it's been a while..

Last up we had the introduction of smart shuffle. Turns out it wasn't really smart enough so it's been studying hard and now provides much better randomosity.

In the Settings screen you'll now find a 'Stats' option, which will tell you a few interesting stats about your music. Not much interesting yet but hopefully more to come in the future!

I've also been battling hard against memory management and iOS shutting down the app inbetween songs in the background. This now appears to be much improved so if you struggled to listen to music and play memory hog games at the same time then that should be a thing of the past now!

Obligatory bug fixes, of course.

This is probably the last update for those of you still on iOS 8 and maybe even iOS 9, unless of course this one introduces really bad issues, of course!

Smart shuffle is here!

Have you ever been annoyed that your shuffled songs play the same artist more than once in a row? I know I have... so smart shuffle is here to help avoid that!

Smart shuffle is turned on by default but you can go back to the truly random (and hence nowhere near as smart) shuffling of yesteryear if you wish!

And, as is tradition, some bugs have been fixed :)

Someone ended up in an infinite loop
Other people found a crash trying to jump to a non-existent song in the queue screen

Both issues squashed.

Playlists have arrived! You can now play playlists from iTunes or create new ones within the app!

There have also been some changes to how songs are selected to be played. No longer is a simple tap how you select a song to play, you hold down on the song for a second and you'll get a funky menu popup giving you multiple options for what you might like to do with that song! This also works on artists, albums and playlists.

I've also updated/added some prompts if no songs/artists are showing up in the app so that users who think this app is like Spotify/Apple Music etc. get a bit of an explanation of how to get songs into the app!

The app is now available as a proper iPad app. Just a scaled up UI for now, maybe one day it will get some bespoke UI adjustments!

Some bug fixes! Some people were getting crashes when trying to play their music, which just ain't right!

Next version should include playlist support, very exciting!

- Fixed a crash if you disabled the last song in the queue.
- Prevented another crash which inexplicably happened to one user.

Now you can see and interact with the music you've queued up! And the app remembers your queue after it's been closed!

And you get a notification pop up when songs change, which also allows you to quickly skip to the next track! Nice if you've got a lot of music and aren't sure what the new song is, if you don't like it then go to the settings screen and you can turn it off!

Lots of other little improvements and fixes here and there, of course.

A couple of users seem to have experienced crashes due to missing meta data in some of their songs so I've fixed that up all proper like!

Groundbreaking: This update does not add Apple Watch support.

Big rewrite of how your music is actually played in order to improve performance and remove bugs. You probably won't notice any changes apart from the fact that you can now select disabled tracks to play, which will result in all your songs being queued up and shuffled through.

Also fixed up a few other bugs and inconsistencies :)

Sit tight for v2.0 which will add oodles of new bits and pieces!

Fantastic new search feature added! If you're like me and have over 1500 songs on your device then this could come in handy!

If you guys could stop crashing the app.... that'd be great... I jest of course! You guys keep at it! Test me... Push me to the limit... I dare you...

Avoided a crash two people experienced when, I think, they were trying to re-enable a song that they'd previously disabled. If you're either of those two people I'd love to know some details on what could have caused the crash because I've no idea!

Fixed a crash which someone experienced relating to a song not having an album artist, which is fair enough!

Now tracks that last over an hour show their duration correctly, which is nice!

Got your back, Jack...

Fixed a crash one user was seeing related to albums on iOS 7 (get on iOS 8 though, you're missing out!)
Fixed an oversight in the last version which meant skipping back to the start of a track locked out the controls, whoops!
