About GVB reis app
The app for travelling by tram, (night) bus, metro and ferry in Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands. Your indispensable travel buddy for frequent travellers or for just a visit. Quickly and easily plan your trip from home to work, a restaurant or the theatre or from Schiphol to your hotel or B&B. Check whether there is a diversion or delay on your route. You always have your favourite line’s up-to-date departure times at your fingertips. And now it’s also possible to purchase a barcode ticket for immediate travel.
What the GVB travel app offers you:
- Up-to-date travel information: always the most reliable and up-to-date travel information for the GVB network as well as for all other public transport companies in the Netherlands.
- Trip planner: plan your trip to any address in Amsterdam or the rest of the Netherlands.
- Alert for disruptions: turn notifications on for your favourite line(s). You will receive an Alert if there’s a diversion or disruption. You can set this for certain days and time periods.
- Crowd indicator: in each requested travel advice, you can immediately see how busy a service is expected to be.
- Bicycle as before and after transport: under travel preferences, you can easily indicate whether you will start or end your trip by bicycle.
- Travel only with GVB: if you have a GVB travel product, e.g. a GVB hour/day or GVB Flex, and only want to travel with GVB lines, it’s easy to set this in your travel preferences.
- Save favourites: save your favourite locations in Amsterdam with just one click. It’ll then be even easier to plan your next trip.
- In-app ticket purchase: you can buy tickets via the app for one hour or for more hours/days and activate them immediately so you are ready to travel. Easily check in and out using your mobile.

Yes, the time has finally come with release 1.35. From now on you can plan your entire door-to-door journey with shared bicycles and scooters in combination with our public transport in our App. For the time being you can choose from the providers Felyx, Check, OV-fiets and Donkey. With release 1.32.0, GVB is taking its first step within the field of Mobility as a Service (MaaS). GVB would like to offer door-to-door transport in addition to our buses, trams, metros and ferries. Step by step GVB will explore the different possibilities in this market. From now on it is possible to see in the GVB app (under Nearby) where you can rent shared scooters and shared bicycles. The initial offer consists of four providers: Donkey Republic, OV Fiets, Check and Felyx.

GVB introduces the group day ticket. A maximum of 5 people may travel on this group day ticket and is available for € 17.50. This gives all members of the group unlimited travel for 24 hours on all GVB trams, (night) buses and metros. The ticket is valid on all GVB lines in Amsterdam, Diemen, Duivendrecht, Amstelveen, Schiphol and Weesp.
In addition, the position of the barcode ticket has been moved to the top, so that it can be read better. This will speed up check-in and check-out process.

GVB introduces traveling with your Debit Card. Traveling with GVB's buses, trams and metros in the greater Amsterdam area has now become even more easier. Travellers who travel on balance can also check in- and out with a contactless debit card or credit card from november 15th onwards – also on a mobile phone.
Our GVB app offers a number of useful functionalities. Link your debit card in the app and view and download all your journeys, for instance for declaration purposes.

In release 1.29 we add functionality where you can check-in and-out with your barcode at the barcode reader, placed under the validator. To do this, hold the back of your phone with the barcode facing up on the circle with the QR code below the card reader. From now on you no longer have to show this to the driver or conductor.

A number of incremental changes are part of this new release. For example, an active and open travel advice is from now refreshed on frequent basis and our marketing massages are now displayed in a more compact way, so that other functions remain more visible. We also provide more information about the working of the Touch Swipe Planner and feedback the app is sent now to our customer service via WhatsApp. As a result, the continuity and speed of processing is better guaranteed.
