This is the Ngāi Tahu story of how the landscape and wildlife of Aotearoa / New Zealand was formed; descended from the very beginning of time, conceived through the deities of the heavens, earth and sea, then manifested in the world around us today, with the central focus on Aoraki, and how his upturned canoe became the Southern Alps.
Written and voiced in Te Reo Māori as well as English, this story is also available in an Early Childood Education version, to assist younger readers, with simple, easy to understand concepts and language.
