About ChildOnBoard

ChildOnBoard reminds you to check the back seat of your car for your traveling companion.
Have you ever left your baby or your pet in the back seat on a hot day?
By using your iPhone's location, the app senses when you leave home (or daycare, for example) and offers to monitor your trip. If you have a traveling companion in the back seat, you can agree to monitoring, which will then sense the next time you stop somewhere long enough to be considered a "visit." The app then reminds you to check the back seat, at which point you can turn off visit monitoring or let it continue.
You can set multiple locations for departure monitoring, such as home, daycare, preschool, grandparents, etc, and turn monitoring on and off individually or all together.
You can also turn "visit" monitoring on manually if you already know you have your companion in the back seat before you leave.
Notifications are displayed automatically on Apple Watch if you have one paired with your iPhone.

Responsibility for protecting your loved ones from overheating in the car lies with you alone. mySmartSoftware makes no guarantees about individual results for people using ChildOnBoard to remind them about their traveling companions.

This app will use background locations services which periodically check your GPS location. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This app does not use continuous GPS like a mapping/routing app, but if you see that your battery life is impacted I recommend that you turn off visit monitoring and location monitoring when you know you are not going to need it. You can do this on the main screen.

If this ever once reminds you to check on an actual forgotten companion in the back seat, I would love to hear about it. Please email me:

What's New in the Latest Version 1.1

Last updated on Sep 7, 2017
Old Versions
After a recent story of a baby being left in the car in the driveway at home after the caregiver forgot to drop her off at daycare we decided to add a new feature. You can now choose to be notified when you arrive at a location. This is similar to how your favorite coffee shop app tells you that you are close to one of your favorite stores. It uses a tiny bit of battery power, no more than your coffee shop app. We also improved the interface so that you can manage the properties of each location directly in the list of monitored locations. You can now also see the boundary circle on the map where the location notifications will be triggered (approximately). All of your saved locations should still be there after upgrading. They will all have "Notify on Arrival" turned off. There are a couple of simple home screen animations which will make it easier to see if location or trip monitoring is currently active on your phone. Turn trip monitoring off when you are not using it since it does use more battery than region monitoring. Once again, please let us know if this ever reminds you about your baby! mySmartSoftware
