About Grüner Pass
The Austrian Grüner Pass app enables the secure storage of EU-compliant SARS-CoV-2 certificates from Austria on your mobile phone and facilitates their presentation during a check of 3-G proof and in international travel. The Austrian Federal Computing Center (BRZ from German Bundesrechenzentrum) operates the app on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK from German Bundesministerium für Soziales, Gesundheit, Pflege und Konsumentenschutz).
The Covid-19 certificate in Austria:
SARS-CoV-2 certificates are issued in Austria in paper or electronic form (PDF) and serve as 3-G proof (vaccinated, recovered, tested). To learn how to obtain your SARS-CoV-2 certificate, visit https://www.gruenerpass.gv.at/. To add a SARS-CoV-2 certificate to the Grüner Pass App, you will need the original paper certificate or PDF document issued to you.
Just a few steps to the Grünen Pass on your smartphone:
- Scan the QR code on your SARS-CoV-2 certificate or
- add the SARS-CoV-2 certificate as a PDF directly in the app.
- Keep your certificates for 3-G verification digital and secure like this.
- Use the app to show the certificate (QR code) during an inspection.
- Multiple certificates (e.g. for family members) can also be stored in this app.
Data protection is important to us:
- All data remains in the app and is not uploaded to third-party servers at any time.
- Your certificates are only stored locally on your smartphone. The data in your app is not stored in any central system.
- The certificates are protected by a digital signature, making them forgery-proof.
- To verify the certificate, a photo ID is required in addition to the QR code.
The use of the "Grüner Pass" app is voluntary and free of charge. For all information on the Grüner Pass in Austria and the various SARS-CoV-2 certificates or options for 3-G proof, please visit https://www.gruenerpass.gv.at.
