About Mool Nanakshahi Calendar App

Mool Nanakshahi Calendar recognizes the adoption event, of 1999 CE, in the Sikh history when SGPC released the first calendar with permanently fixed dates in the Tropical Calendar.

Therefore, the calculations of this calendar do not regress back from 1999 CE into the Bikrami era, and accurately fixes historical dates for all time in future. Goes up to year 9999 CE.

New Features:


1. Users can now swipe Left or Right (also Up or Down) to move Forward or Back a month.

2. A running ‘Nanakshahi Day number’ (Days since Guru Nanak birthdate) is displayed on top of the calendar grid.

3. A toggle button above the calendar, lets a user change the view from Gregorian calendar layout to Desi calendar month view. The same can be achieved by tapping the desi month legend on the left side of the calendar date grid.

4. A menu option is provided from which the current year’s Nanakshahi calendar PDF is downloaded to the client’s device from where it can be viewed and printed.

5. The Image on the banner graphic showing the Desi month name changes with the Language selected and the current month being displayed for all languages.

6. The weekdays on the date column now change dynamically with language selected.

7. When a date is selected that has an event, the event focus scrolls and highlights the event row.

8. A PDF file icon is now shown next to the events that have an associated reference document.


Improvements:


1. Guide coach-marks are displayed when the app is installed and run for the first time, to showcase the app controls & features

2. Screens re-designed for greater visibility.

3. Font sizes were increased for ease of readability.

4. Days of the Week are dynamic and change with the language being selected.

5. The symbol signalling ‘Sangrad’ was made bigger to be more conspicuous.
