About Ride Buddy Buckets

Ride Buddy Buckets was designed specifically for the Keiser m3i bike which has Bluetooth data being transmitted from thelr latest computers. If you have one of these bikes, or an older m3 that has been upgraded with the latest bike console (computer), this app will be able to pair with the bike. Power, RPM and other sensors are dependent upon the bike sending said data via Bluetooth. However, for heart rate you can use either your own Bluetooth heart rate transmitter belt (which can be purchased from many sites including our store: http://www.cyclingfusion.com/store/heartmonitors.php ), or a Polar T31 which will synch up with the Keiser m3 (all models).

Ride Buddy Buckets focuses on the training load of an indoor or outdoor cycling ride. This focus targets the most critical objective of anyone wanting to improve fitness, lose weight or become a better rider; the stress and adaptation cycle. Ride Buddy Buckets also works with any Bluetooth compatible sensor on outdoor bikes as well as the newer indoor bikes with computer consoles.

Thomas D. Fahey, Ed.D writes in the Encyclopedia of Sports Medicine and Science “Adaptation is the whole purpose of exercise training. Adaptation requires a systematic application of exercise stress. The stress should be sufficient to stimulate an adaptation, but not so severe that breakdown and injury occur.” Until now, there has been no simple device to track and manage this stress and adaptation cycle. Ride Buddy Buckets is designed to ultimately bring about the changes athletes of all types are looking for.

Ride Buddy Buckets is built upon the original research and practical application of Sally Edwards and the Heart Zones® system of cardiovascular training. By assigning a weighted value of increasing magnitude to one of each heart rate training zone, one can simply multiply the number of minutes by that weighted value to arrive at a numeric value of stress experienced by the body during exercise. Thus each indoor cycling ride will now be able to reflect a Training Load accomplished at the end of the ride. This provides actionable information that anyone wanting to lose weight or improve their riding can use to insure improvements.

Ride Buddy Buckets can be automatically uploaded to Ride Journal™. Ride Journal™ is an on-line software program that is designed to guide riders (indoors or outdoor cyclists as well), towards a Training Load level that will achieve their goals and manage the process along the way – to accomplish the ultimate goal; Adaptation. Adaptation is then evidenced by your riding; getting faster on the flats, and/or stronger on the climbs, or simply dropping weight as a result.

Ride Journal will generate a training plan based on your individual experience and upcoming goals. This is then downloaded to Ride Buddy Buckets to guide the rider during the actual ride itself.
