About Safe Schools Initiative
The "Safe Schools Initiative" app enables students, teachers, parents and local School Resource Officers to crowd source their own safety. The SSI App can provide early warning of threats to School Resource Officers, provide a direct connection to the national Suicide hotline for students in distress, and connect users to national bullying resources. The app provides an online “micro-community” that is built around the students, teachers and school resource officers of a school. The app can: Directly connect teachers and students to local School Resource officers to anonymously communicate threats of violence. This one-on-one chat feature is completely anonymous, allows for video, screen shot or audio upload. Directly connect users to National Suicide Hotline and national bullying resources (www.stopbullying.gov). Provide an interactive community chat section that inspires students and teachers to self-organize and address safety issues, thereby allowing a community to take ownership of their own safety.
