About Streetwarz

A story of betrayal and deception, where the coach of a kapa haka team makes friends with a girl’s mother, simply because he wants the girl to compete in his group.

Written and Illustrated by Kairangi Ihimaera of Moerewa School.

On February 26th and 27th 2014, the second installment of the Te Tai Tokerau Slam took the digital storytelling challenge to the next level.

Hosted once again by Ngāti Hine at the Nuflo centre, the original sixteen students from the first Slam! were tasked with producing one digital story book each in a two day period, whereas before they were working in teams of four.

The process was demanding, as writing and editing continued on into the night, ready for voice recording in both languages the next day, and illustrations to be completed in the down time.

Once again, the student’s innovation mixed with their creativity as stories emerged incorporating imagination, culture, history and tradition.

These books offer a true multi-language experience and is a great tool for learning new languages for both young and old. This book includes the narration, text, and user interface in these languages:

English
Māori
