About TRU-ONC

The TRU-Onc App is like having an online diary in your pocket! It is designed to track your activity and general health throughout your cancer treatment.
The TRU-Onc app is specifically designed to help:
- Patients log in the most common symptoms and complaints
- Allow the integration of wearable data extraction including heart rate and steps
- Medical teams remotely track and communicate with patients during treatment
- Record data into a HIPAA compliant database that can then be queried for analysis
To use TRU-Onc, email jacqueline.vaughn@duke.edu for details of how to participate and receive unique log in information.
We are collecting self-reported data which are by nature subjective (although from the point of view of the reporter, they are also objective data). Atmospheric data is objective data that has been associated with health. We would like to gather atmospheric data, such as cloudy sky, for example, together with reports of health measures such as general wellbeing. As one could imagine, it may be hard to tease out the effects of a medical intervention from other environmental factors that are known to influence health and perhaps, more important, health perception. Atmospheric conditions may play a significant role in health, health perception, and behaviors associated with health. So we hope those atmospheric data will help one understand a little bit more how their health tracks with environmental data.
