"Work Mate lets you notify your friends with your location when you click ‘check in’ on the app. Friends will be notified with your updated location and can message you through the app. The Snap Maps for professionals, Work Mate lets you stay in the loop with your friends when you move around for work, leisure or travel.

Work Mate’s ‘WHY’ is to help you maintain and grow your offline friendships. We’ve removed the frills associated with other social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook. There’s no profile pictures, bios or titles because we believe the offline personality is the most important one.

Simply add friends through usernames, numbers and QR codes. Work Mate is founded by young professionals who are transitioning into the work force and want to make sure they see as much of and as many of their friends as possible.

Work Mate offers an intersection of social media and professional networking. As young professionals, Work Mate’s founders discovered that they didn’t have the right platform to stay in touch with people they met through work, nor their old friends.

“We’d go on work trips and meet people who we really got along with. We didn’t spend enough time with them to exchange numbers but we’d add them on LinkedIn. Our professional contacts grew, but our professional friendships didn’t. We don’t have much time for social media anymore but we wanted to make sure we’d know if we were all in the same location again.”

Work Mate is designed to maximise your in-person catchups by saving you time having to message volumes of friends to see who’s around. It’ll also help you discover which friends are nearby and stay in touch without having to deal with the frills of other social media platforms. "
