About Xasteria: Astronomy Weather

Xasteria was originally created to bring the excellent ASTRO weather forecast of the service 7Timer to your iOS device. With worldwide coverage and one of the best performing astro-seeing models, it is a great tool for all stargazers.

The app has been extended to offer you quick access to all of your favourite weather resources and tools: Clear Sky Charts (for North American users), Clear Outside, Meteoblue, Windy, Astrospheric, Sat24.com, the latest water vapor satellite images and even light pollution maps.
ISS and bight satellite passes for your location are also shown (data from heavens-above.com).

The main forecast source, 7Timer, is based on the NOAA/NCEP-based numeric weather model, the Global Forecast System (GFS) and gives you a forecast for the entire globe with a resolution of about 20km at 3-hour intervals.

The data provided includes:
-Sun/Moon rise/set & twilight times.
-Moon phase.
-Cloud cover.
-Astronomical seeing.
-Atmospheric transparency.
-Temperature.
-Humidity.
-Rain/Snow.
-Atmospheric instability.
-Wind.
-Wind direction.

Xasteria provides you with a choice of 3 visualization modes for the data: the new 7Timer! ASTRO graphics, the color-stripe graphics similar to some other astro-forecast services and a raw text mode.

Xasteria is available in English, Greek, German and French. If you would like to translate it to your own language, please contact the author.

Xasteria will always be ad-free. If you would like to support it, as well as fund the 7Timer service behind it, you can get Xasteria Plus, which can access non-free weather sources and has some extra features like night vision mode, iPhone landscape view, lunar calendar, solar eclipse simulator, location manager.

I would appreciate a quick review on the App Store if you are using the app (there will be no popup asking you in the app as I hate those). If you have a specific request/suggestion you can also try the official app page at http://astro.ecuadors.net

Remember, Xasteria tries to be nice and never nags you with popups, so it gets very few ratings/reviews. Support it by rating it!
What's new:
– Updated UI with tabs per source.
– Clear Sky Charts added as a source for North American users - nearest Chart loaded automatically, alternative available in “Other” sources.
– Access to light pollution maps (“Other” sources).
– Updated GOES satellite links.
– Choice of wind speed units (for in stripe/text viewing mode).
– Clearer main page coordinates font.
– Fix for "E/W" reversal in recent locations and Ipad landscape settings, credits added.
The more capable version, “Xasteria+”, normally only included with Polar Scope Align is now available as a separate app. Upgrading to it supports the free Xasteria and the 7Timer! service and gives you extra features (night mode, location manager, lunar calendar), as well as extra sources that are not free (currently Dark Sky) - which is something that can't be done on the free app for obvious reasons.

Remember, Xasteria tries to be nice and never nags you with popups, so it gets very few ratings/reviews. Support it by rating it!
This is a quick release to tidy up after v2.0:

-Fix for NOAA water vapor not loading on some devices - apologies!
-List of recent places holds more (10) and multiple manual locations are stored.
-Xasteria top title is gone to allow more app space, plus other tweaks.

If you've missed the 2.0 improvement list:

-iPhone X full screen support.
-Added a Fahrenheit/Celsius setting separate from Metric/Imperial (useful for countries which use Imperial with Celsius like the UK).
-Added FAQ section in info page.
-The background color on the main weather view now indicates whether it is day/twilight/night .
-Links for GOES-16 Satellite take you directly to the Band 9 water vapor animations.
-Other water vapor improvements including fix for missing "< Back" button.

Xasteria never nags you with popups about a rating/review, but gets few ratings for that reason, so if you have time for a quick rating/review, that would be appreciated. There is a link to ratings in the settings page if it helps.
What's new:

-The main Xasteria weather service (7Timer!) will now be more reliable, as a brand new Xasteria-funded US-based server is up and running. This version tries that mirror first.
-The NOAA water vapor page got an update, as there was a satellite replacement: GOES-13 (GOES-East) was retired and GOES-16 is now up in its place.
1.11
Aug 14, 2017
As Xasteria never nags you with popups about a rating/review, it gets very few ratings despite the number of users. So, if you use the app perhaps you could consider doing a quick rating/review on the app store.

-Added French localization.
-Quick access to the latest Water Vapor satellite images.
-Improved contrast in some pages.
1.10
Jun 1, 2017
The 7Timer! service is restored.

-Rotation to landscape orientation enabled for iPad.
-Clear Outside and Meteoblue alternative weather sources are accessible in browser window.
1.9
Mar 27, 2017
-The 7Timer! service that Xasteria uses will be down for technical reasons. The 7Timer! people are sending their apologies, it is unfortunately an issue beyond their direct control. An alternative weather report link is added for the meantime, and Xasteria will connect to its own server on app launch and notify users about any changes to the situation.

Mar 6, 2017
-Small visual improvements for some devices.
-Fix: Restored full results for ISS passes and Iridium flares.

-Ability to use the time zones of remote locations instead of being fixed on your device's zone (select Time Zone: From Location in settings)
-Iridium flares for your location (satellite icon, then button ->Iridium).
-Show only future ISS passes.
-Make it obvious that table cells in satellite lists expand when tapped.

I would appreciate a quick review on the App store if you are using the app - if you have a specific request/suggestion you can also try the official app page at http://astro.ecuadors.net

-Information for visible ISS passes over your location.
-Fixed display issue when sunset/twilight is after midnight.
