* New Conversation Creation and Editing screens.
Taking cues from our Newsfeed feature group chats now use a single uniform screen for creation, editing, and viewing details.
We’ve also made it even easier to start a conversation by adding dropdown options to the creation button for:
* Group Chats.
* Polls.
* Private Messages.
… allowing you to easily start communicating with your colleagues from a single place.
* Revamped Poll UI.
Creation of polls has undergone a similar refresh to group chats: moving everything into a single editor and using the same editor for creation, editing, and viewing the poll details.
Additionally the polls themselves now show the options/results front and centre (and indicate what you’ve voted for!) rather than trying to tuck it all away in a dropdown panel over the conversation. The conversation is still there and easily accessible via a button in the title bar. Those who choose to engage in the conversation without voting will see an enticement to cast their vote.
* Preference toggle for full width browser view
Desktop users can now optionally toggle the app from the narrow ‘phone’ view to a full-width view. Find this toggle by heading to the Settings cog and clicking on ‘Notifications.’
* Conversation ‘Admins.’
Conversation creators can now nominate additional users as ‘admins’ of those conversations.
These admins are granted equal permissions to the owner of the conversation, meaning they can edit the conversation (title, icon, etc.), add and remove participants, and moderate content.
* Timeline Subscriptions.
Individuals and groups can now be subscribed to the timelines of other groups (or tags) to receive that content in their news feed.
In addition to the above headline features this release also includes some smaller tweaks in various areas, including:
* Quick access to conversation mute preferences from the title bar.
* News posts without body text are now identified by a ‘film strip’ of their included media (e.g. in the title of the associated conversation.)
* Private conversations with oneself are now ‘Notes To Yourself’ (p.s. did you know you can have conversations with yourself?)
Of course no release would be complete without some Bug Fixes too:
* Error caused by news post removals.
* Failure to update news post text when translating.
* Error preventing display of images on news feed items “below the fold.”
* App crash when offline after viewing hashtag timelines.
* Crash when viewing group profile screen after app backgrounding.
