We made it easier to enter in your phone number during registration. Not too exciting, we know. Next release will have new features. Pinky promise!

Through your feedback, we found a few ways to improve the KOYA experience. We are excited to see how you pay it forward to your friends and family.

It’s easy to miss notifications and we want to make sure that your KOYAs are delivered and received in a timely manner. With this update, you will be notified with a txt message that you have discovered a KOYA. This also means that you can rest easy knowing that the personal message you recorded for your friend is now more likely to be seen.

Birthday notifications for your friends! Never forget a birthday by scheduling a KOYA to arrive at the exact time and date. Make sure you enter your birthday in your Profile.
Enhanced the onboarding and added a short video about KOYA and the ability to add a favorite place.
Simplified inviting a friend to download and try KOYA as well.
Pay it Forward with your family and friends!

Happy 2020! We’ve added the ability to include a URL link to a KOYA. The link could point to a special Spotify song or Netflix show you wanted to share with your friend. We are hoping that the creatives out there will hack this feature to do coupon sharing or other ideas we haven’t thought of.
Also, we ask for a favorite location when registering to help friends send KOYAs that are more likely to be found.

The magnetic North Pole shifted and our maps were off a few meters to the south. JK, we messed up the map geofences. This update fixes that.
We recommend updating to fix an issue with discovering KOYAs at the correct locations.

This update includes 10 second videos. Trust us, the 3 extra seconds make a big difference!
We also improved the experience for first time users who were invited into KOYA. Now your friends will understand what steps to take after downloading the app. We hope you enjoy sending and receiving KOYAs between your family and friends and want to hear any feel-good stories you want to share with us.

We know everyone is busy. That’s why we keep improving the flow for creating of a KOYA making it easier to follow and complete. We have also added smart reminders to increase the discovery of a KOYA as this is the main purpose of the app.

Have you sent a KOYA only to find out the location was set to a place unlikely to be visited by the receiver? Now you can remove these KOYAs from your Sent/Undiscovered tab with a swipe left. Have you every been stumped on where to send a KOYA to a friend because they haven’t entered any Favorite Places? Now you can nudge your friend to set up some favorites making it easier to send them KOYAs you know they will discover. Are you in the habit of stopping the KOYA app by swiping up after using it? We’ve added some background smarts to try to alert you when you are close to a KOYA message so that you can bring KOYA to the foreground to enable discovery mode.
This release also improves the overall usability of KOYA based on your feedback.

We’ve streamlined the on-boarding, added email to the registration so we can reach out to our fantastic customers and made some behind the scenes capabilities to enable smarter push messages for engagement. We also improved the Favorites feature so that the location and size of the geofence you create is used to send you KOYAs.
While KOYA has been available in India, the text validation process did not work as most users block all unknown phone numbers to reduce spam (our number was included in that list). In time for this new release, our number has been white-listed (unblocked). Additionally, the PayPal.me feature was removed because it is currently not supported in India.

We’ve also made it easier to recognize the Settings/Profile icon to help direct you to the app settings, profile settings, managing your favorites, PayPal.me setting, and how to reach out to us with any feedback.
For the map lovers out there we added satellite view so you can see exactly the area where the geofence is covering to make it easier to move and size the geofence to insure your KOYA will be discovered.
The hint experience has been improved making it faster to jump right into a full screen convo of clues between the sender and receiver.
Support for iOS 13 location permission changes has been added.

Have you ever been stumped by the map screen when sending a KOYA to your friend? You try to think where they like to go and nothing immediately comes to mind.
Well, consider that stump removed. KOYA now supports Favorites! This new feature makes it easy to create and share with your friends all your favorite places and what you like to get there. It’s like a life registry. You can “favorite” coffee shops, movie theaters, nail salons, yoga studios, walks in a park, breakfast at Tiffany’s, whatever.
Now when you go to send your friend a KOYA, all of their favorites will show up making it easy to choose a place they are likely to go to.
If you enjoy the ability to choose locations at random, rest assured. You can still be creative and send your friends on a hunt to any neighborhood, city or specified location.
We’ve also added the ability for local business owners to display a QR code at their place of business to make it even easier to add their place to your favorite list with a simple scan. Pretty cool, eh?
Oh, we fixed some bugs in our spare time as well…

Added a new Special Delivery option to insure a KOYA is delivered by a specific time before midnight tomorrow if it hasn’t been discovered. Also enhanced sending and receiving Hints to include who you are chatting with and for which KOYA. Fixed some PayPal related issues our marvelous users have told us about as well.

Support for up to 30 second audio messages for the Sender of a KOYA and as a Thank You for the Receiver. Now you can say you care without fixing up your hair!
Custom geofence sizes and locations. Want to make doubly sure your friend gets their KOYA? Now you can extend the geofence from as small as 10 meters to a whopping 10 miles in radius! You can also reposition the geofence to exactly where you think your friend will travel through. Of course, you can still rely on Google to pick the place if you are not so adventurous.
Improved PayPal.me messaging to help the Sender better understand when they are to confirm their gift and to let them know when the Receiver hasn’t setup their PayPal.me unique ID.

Can’t find the KOYA your friend sent you two weeks ago? Now you can request a hint from the sender for a KOYA you have been notified is ready for you to discover. Coupled with the ability to send a hint, this enables a two-way chat to take place for the life of each KOYA message, either received or sent.

We’ve also made it easier to enter and verify your PayPal.me unique ID was entered correctly. No more excuses for not sending KOYAs with gifts!

Several improvements to the previous experience have been made as well including a more robust video upload/download process.
