Some custom post types are now available. You can manage them under My Site if your site is built with WP.com, or on the home screen if your site is self-hosted. We know, we’re amazing. (But very humble about it.)
While we were making your day better, we also squashed several bugs and made some small, yet ever-so-important fixes.
- Canceling the media picker in the experimental block editor will no longer remove images from galleries. Phew.
- We fixed the forever-loading indicator on the Stats screen for self-hosted sites that aren’t connected to Jetpack.
- Subscriber email stats are now sorted by post date so your most recent posts will appear at the top of the list.
- Backup logs will stay in their lane and won’t show up in Personal plan sites by mistake.

We added smart cropping for featured images in the Reader feed. That way, images of people won’t have their heads cut off. Much preferred.
There’s now a confirmation dialog for when you’re marking a referring traffic source as spam. It should be really, really hard to do it by accident.
As part of this update, we also squashed several bugs.
- The timezone label on the Stats screen no longer shows Standard Time during Daylight Savings Time. (Thanks for the catch, @btraviswright!)
- The Articles screen now shows reader comments when they’re posted from the inline section.
- The Subscribe button works properly in Freshly Pressed posts, so you can subscribe to a feed from within a post. Fast, easy, and oh-so-fresh.
- Footnote links in the Reader now work as they’re supposed to and jump to the correct location when you tap them.
- In Reader Comments, the empty state disappears after you post a comment. Cached comments also disappear after they’re deleted, including when you use the swipe action. So long, farewell.
- We fixed assorted design and visibility issues, like button styles, comment separators in Dark Mode, and controls for autoplay videos.
- In the Reader, we fixed a couple of issues with Notification Settings. They’re now hidden when you aren’t subscribed, and they show up properly when you subscribe.
- We fixed an issue where the footer view in Menu Editing wasn’t resizing. As a result, action buttons are now legible in non-English languages. Muy bueno.
- We solved an issue with incorrect avatars in notifications. If you cancel your image download, it won’t appear in the app.
- We removed the non-functional X link on the About screen. (Shout-out to @zynp-KC for reporting!)

Who’s who on your website? Now you know—Push notifications now use gravatars so you can see who commented or interacted with your content. The Activity Log also shows when your site was updated using AI agents.
If you thought our last updates to the Stats were big, you haven’t seen anything yet.
- Today’s date is now included in intervals like “Last 7 days.” We also added a new “Last 14 days” interval.
- Incomplete dates, including today, are shown on the line chart as a dotted line. You can see them more easily in the bar chart view as well.
- Speaking of bar charts, tapping on a bar will show you the data for that date. This makes it easier to scroll through data for multiple days. Oh, and tapping a bar will no longer select the bar next to it.
- You might notice visual changes like a smaller Chart card header, smaller fonts in tabs, and reduced spacing here and there. It’s giving minimalist.
While we were at it, we made changes to the Reader, too. (Incidentally, none of them are related to reading.)
- When you view an image in a lightbox, swiping downward will dismiss it, even when you’re zoomed in.
- We fixed the color of links in comments and in dark mode on custom themes. Looking good.
- You can view media galleries in fullscreen mode. Just swipe right or left to view all images.
And because we still had a little free time, we also fixed a few details that were bothering us.
- We updated the arrow icons and spacing on the Notifications screen.
- In Post Settings, the Social Sharing card only shows platforms that the app supports.
- New posts use the default post format instead of the standard version. You can update this format in your site settings.
- If your site is self-hosted with XML-RPC disabled, you can see Posts and Pages in the app. That’s pretty important, if we do say so ourselves.

112% of our team loved the big changes we made to the Stats section. (Some people may have voted twice; we can’t say for sure.)
- There’s a new Ads tab where you can see important WordAds data like the number of ads served and revenue earned.
- We added a UTM tab so you can see source and medium for your site traffic. There’s also a “Devices” view that shows you which devices your visitors used.
- When you select “Today” or another daily period in the Post Stats screen, you’ll see “Last 7 days” instead of hourly data that doesn’t exist. We can’t predict the future just yet.
- We fixed some visual issues with charts and made design improvements throughout the Stats section.
We also made some other general fixes and improvements to the app.
- Post tags are now displayed in the original order you added them to the feed.
- We solved a caching issue on the Insights screen that would display a blank Posting Activity area. Now you can always see what you’ve been up to.
- We fixed a bug in Jetpack notifications that would sometimes display the wrong avatar.
- We made small visual improvements on the Activity Logs screen, like titles, icons, and colors.
We added Custom Post Types as an experimental feature. Test it out and let us know what you think. #science
One last thing: if your site is authenticated with an application password, you don’t need to have XML-RPC enabled. The downside is that only limited features are available. Once enabled, you can get those features back.

Our AI support feature, WordPress Intelligence, is now available in more locales and languages. Everyone’s favorite helper just got a whole lot handier.
We improved the Stats section by roughly 83%.
- The Locations card lets you filter data by country, region, and city. This data is consistent with Jetpack’s web version.
- “External Links” is now “Clicks,” making it consistent with the web version. We fixed a bug where this area sometimes displayed incorrectly.
- You can turn off automatic data comparison and save that setting for future app usage. We fixed an issue where weekly data for the comparison period didn’t always display correctly.
- Long-pressing on a bar chart will show you more details. Vertical scrolling is also fixed.
- You can view bar graph and line chart data grouped by days, weeks, months, and years.
- Top List items are sorted by name and ordered properly.
We made lots of changes to the Reader, too.
- There’s a new “Freshly Pressed” tab on the Discover screen. We also changed the “Recommended” tab to “For You.”
- There’s only one Search option in the main sidebar.
- The “Read More” view works the same, no matter where you tap it, and you can now see the whole excerpt. So much more to explore.
- The Comments section lets you reply and like comments directly below the article. There’s a new “Leave Comment” button under articles for faster commenting.
- You can see two comments by default instead of just one, and very long comments can be collapsed for easier reading.
- We made a few visual issues with the Comments section, too. Comments now have the correct height, the “View All Comments” button stands out more, and the “Send” button is styled properly.
- You can read posts in your preferred language with in-app translation support.
- Multiple spaces in site titles are collapsed into one for easier reading and display.
We made a technical update that reduces the size of your app by about 6 MB. What will you do with all that newfound space?
It’s easier to find, see, and change the visibility settings of existing posts. The “Done” button also won’t disappear when you set the password while publishing a password-protected post.
Looking good: we updated shortcut icons and illustrations to better match the rest of the app, as well as fit better with your device.
We fixed an issue so post previews now work properly for certain sites using Business and Commerce plans.
When you add a new self-hosted site, you’ll be asked for your app password to authenticate. Keep it secret. Keep it safe.

We added a new Subscribers screen that shows all of your email and Reader subscribers. Now you know who’s reading (and loving) your content.
We made improvements to the TimeZone Picker so you’ll see more accurate suggestions for your local timezone.
We added a search feature to the Jetpack activity list, complete with dates and users for each activity. In this same area, you can also see when your downloadable backup expires. Knowledge is power.
We gave a small facelift to the Post List, like streamlining labels, making images smaller and removing extra space, and moving loading indicators so they’re more visible.
Finally, we squashed a number of bugs.
- You’ll no longer see HTML encoded characters on various screens, so all your ampersands look exactly as they should. Rock on.

Visually, we've:

Noticed a long delay when saving posts? That might have been because of image, gallery, or file blocks—but not anymore. Saving should be quick and easy, no matter how many photos or files you’ve uploaded.
The Tags feed is live! You can now see content with specific tags, all in one place. Tag, you’re it.
Finally, we fixed the overlapping “Done” button on the “Post Published” screen. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

We reorganized your Stats screen to show new information about traffic and insights. We also added a Subscribers tab so you can better analyze information about your site subscribers. Please like and subscribe.
We fixed multiple issues with post syncing, like posts not loading when the app opens and not showing up in the right status tab. A place for every post, and every post in its place.
When you’re editing a page, you can now set the parent page within the page’s settings. We added slug and excerpt fields to the settings area, and we removed the status field. We also improved the way different settings are ordered and grouped.
We also resolved issues with the Publish Date field in your post settings. The new date picker makes it easy to choose your publication date, even if you’re in a different time zone from the blog. You’ll only see the Publish Date field when you’re ready to hit publish.
We added a new Media Uploads screen to your publishing workflow so you can see uploads in progress. You’ll see any error messages for failed uploads here, along with the option to cancel them. Oh, and speaking of errors, we improved notifications for errors with uploading and publishing.
We updated the “more” menu in the editor with a new look and feel, and we changed the design for your revisions list. We also added a badge to indicate when a post is password protected. (We don’t recommend using the password 1-2-3-4-5. Amazingly, that’s the same combination we have on our luggage.)
Pending posts now have clearer workflows for admins and contributors. We also updated the success view for published posts. It’s now easier to Share and Blaze a post.
Changed your mind about trashing a post? You can now view and restore trashed posts and pages from the editor.
We removed the “draft uploaded” bar that appeared on the bottom of your screen when you were saving or updating a draft post. This did not spark joy, so we thanked it and said goodbye.
Finally, we squashed a long list of bugs and fixed a handful of rare crashes caused by code issues.
- If a draft on your device is different from the draft saved to the web, the app will now show a conflict resolution screen instead of making changes on its own.
- Discarding changes to a draft will no longer delete the entire draft.
- The footer will show the correct date when a draft was created.
- You’ll now see an error message when you assign a page author who isn’t eligible to be an author.

Speaking of nesting, we fixed a bug where merging a list item into a paragraph would remove any nested text for that list item.

We also made some important changes in the block editor. To prevent an app crash, deleted and undefined reusable blocks can no longer be converted to regular blocks.
When you tap on a nested text block, you can immediately edit content in that block—no more tapping through every nesting level to get where you want to go. (Our fingers were getting tired, too.)

Not sure if you’re looking at an image or a GIF in your Image block? No need to wonder anymore—animated GIFs now come with a GIF badge.

- Good news for all those orphan comments out there—we squashed a bug where comment replies got lost after their parent comments were unapproved.
- When you switch between sites on an iPad, you won’t switch between sidebar nav items, too. You’ll be looking at the same menu item you left on the previous site.
- Block setting changes to ordered lists now appear in the editor, not just in Preview.
- We fixed a keyboard issue in the WP.com account creation process. If you start entering a magic link password and change your mind, you can dismiss the keyboard and move on with your day.

You can now copy links to published, scheduled, and draft posts and pages using the Copy Link button above the Trash button. Delightful.
Finally, you’ll see an error message if a media upload fails for reasons other than not being connected to the Internet. This is much better than the infinitely loading progress bar you might have seen previously.

We made some useful updates to the Block Editor.
- We solved an issue where buttons weren’t justifying left, right, or center in the Buttons block.
- We added translation for color settings in Cover blocks.
- Selecting an image will no longer show you a video thumbnail, and vice versa.
- We hid the help button in the bottom right of the unsupported block editor to avoid confusion.
- When you’re using different text and background colors in text blocks, you’ll get a notification if the color combo might make it hard for some people to read.
- We fixed a handful of edge case problems when changing the color of non-selected text.
We also solved a few smaller issues and crashes.
- Weekly roundup notifications are now showing up, making it easier to stay on top of the latest news.
- When you connect your Facebook account to Publicize, you’ll now be logged in successfully.
- Images with a copyright symbol in the file name will now upload or appear in the Share Sheet properly.

What time is it? Our brand-new time zone selection screen knows. Get a suggested time zone based on your device and improve search while you’re at it.
If you’re using a free plan, video uploads are now limited to five minutes per file. Don’t worry, that won’t affect any videos you’ve already uploaded to your site.
We’ve also made some changes to the block editor:
- We solved translation issues that caused some user interface elements (like text alignment information and the block editor modal window) to only appear in English.
- We added language translation for Jetpack and Layout Grid blocks.
- We fixed a bug that would reset text formatting to default after hitting backspace. Bold on, friends.
- Multi-line block titles are now center-aligned in the inserter menu.
Finally, the “Share WordPress with a friend” row is back where it belongs on the Me screen. Reunited and it feels so good.

Made a New Year's resolution to publish more content on your site? We made a few updates to the Block Editor to help you do just that.
- When you're editing Paragraph blocks, you can highlight specific text in any color you'd like.
- Brand-new Gallery blocks will default to the new design. You can also auto-convert any old galleries to the new format without a hitch.
- The editor now auto-scrolls, so you can always see what you're typing. No more disappearing text, no more guesswork.
- We squashed a bug where the background color wasn't showing up for pre-formatted blocks on sites that use standard themes.
