About Coffee Book
"Life's too short to drink bad coffee" – someone, somewhere.
Coffee is a personal drink and we know a good cup when we find it. Sometimes recreating that perfect cup is hard – unless you record everything about it, ready for next time. Coffee Book helps you do that and much more.
With Coffee Book, you'll store all kinds of important information about your coffee but also how it came into being, too. The coffee you used, the brewing method, and even the equipment can change how a cup tastes. Coffee Book helps you log and track it all.
Need to tweak a cup? With Coffee Book, learning about your coffee tastes has never been easier. You'll log changes as you go, noting what they mean to you and your tastebuds. All of this information will be safe and sound in the cloud so you'll never have to start again!
Features include:
- Syncing with Apple Health – your caffeine intake will never be a mystery again.
- Support for all the best brewing methods including Aeropress, Chemex, Cold Brew, and more.
- A space for photos for those extra special cups.
- Ratings, so you can track how your brewing method, beans, and more affects the outcome.
- Privacy, because coffee doesn't need your data and neither do we.
- Fetch data about your brews and coffee within Shortcuts
- Lock screen widgets so the next brew is just a tap away.

The one with the island & some bits on the side
For those of you with fancy new iPhones, you'll be able to see Coffee Book show up in the dynamic island. For everyone else, there's gorgeous live activities to keep the brew going even if you lock the screen.
The new stuff:
- If you have a timer running and background the app, it'll show up in the island.
- Whilst enjoying a brew guide, you can skip steps in the live activity or dynamic island
- There's some gentle sounds that play whilst brewing
- The SharePlay experience has been improved, with faster updates.
- A whole bunch of new tasting notes have been added ( again ) and you can add these to your brews and coffee's now.
- When adding a coffee, you can now say its decaf
- If a section of tasting notes has a bunch of values, it'll now look a lot better.
- The speed of the scanner has been improved, and it will now find weights in grammes.
- The grinder page now has a summary, the same as brewers.
- We've added a moka pot guide.
- Added a simple search to the data page.
- Removed some settings items.
The bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue with farenheight/oz units not saving correctly
- When coming back from the background, the timer will now be the correct time ( with a posisble second or two difference depending on device ).
- If you're using scales, they'll now only update the correct field.

The one where the machine learned.
Coffee Book has been sped up, with a fresh coat of paint, and a splash of fancy computer vision.
The new stuff:
- When entering the information for a coffee, you can now scan the bag to try and pull out relevant information.
- When you turn off scales in settings, we will no longer show the scales button on the brew page.
- Coffee now has a varital option.
- There's a list of origins to pick from when adding a coffee, and more have been added to auto complete.
- When you're entering numeric values the correct number pad will now show.
- Performance has been improved on older devices, particularly those with low memory.
- The various popovers in the app are now prettier, with some lovely blur effects.
- There's more roast types available when editing a coffee.
- If you close a section on the homepage, it will stay closed every time you open the app until you manually re-open it.
- There are more espresso fields available.
- Some icons have been replaced throughout the app.
- If you open the app at midnight, you may recieve a surprise...
The bug fixes:
- Users who set the app to farenheight temperatures will now again see correct values.
- Chinese keyboard users will now be able to use their auto-complete as expected.
- Long titles of coffee will now render correctly.
- HealthKit functionality has been restored.

The one with your recipes.
Coffee Book's March update has brought recipes to the app. You can now make a recipe, share it, and then make brews from it.
The new stuff:
- The new homepage has now been really dialled in, making everything load a little faster.
- The app is now mostly localised into German, with content localisation coming soon, alongside more european languages.
- There's some subtle improvements to the design of all the buttons ( they're a bit squishier ).
- You can now create a recipe in the data tab, which will allow you to save your favourite brew profiles.
- When you've made your first recipe, you can create a new brew copying all the parameters.
- There are a few more fields for brews.
- When adding a coffee, it now has a “state”, so you can say if it’s one you’re using now, or one you’ve finished. If you use all the coffee you entered as the amount, it’ll automagically switch it to finished.
The bug fixes:
- Fixed a possible crash when sharing a brew on iPad Pro.
- Sped up image loading across the app.
- The onboarding notifications are currently disabled due to them being shown incorrectly.
- When you're entering text, it will no longer default to a zero, making it easier to enter values.
- The close buttons now work as expected on the popovers.
- When the homepage loads, the graph no longer looks really weird - thanks @bobek_balinek !
- Updated the longer text fields so they no longer lose their content when you scroll off.
- The brews in the all brews page are now consistently sorted.
- The graph widget will now no longer be problematic.
- In dark mode, the brew cards will now display correctly.
- When you copy a brew, you'll no longer copy the image, saving loads of space.
