About Heart Club by Semler Health

Heart health doesn’t have to be complicated. You can reduce your risk of stroke and heart attack with one simple method: walking. To manage hypertension, use Heart Club to track your steps and record your blood pressure.

Keep It Simple: Just One Goal
Improve your heart health by doing just one thing: Walking! Walking two miles a day is as good as spending 30 minutes sweating in the gym. This is true even if you walk at a leisurely pace. (Distance matters, not speed.)

Designed by a Mayo Clinic Cardiologist

Heart Club is designed by a cardiologist who trained at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Herbert Semler has dedicated his 50-year career to helping people prevent heart attack and stroke. Now you can follow his expert guidance with this easy-to-use app.

Steps Tracking = More Walking
Knowing that your phone is tracking your steps makes you likely to walk more. Seeing your steps add up every day is motivation by itself. You’ll keep walking because you want to.

Keep It Simple: Just Two Main Features
1. Track your steps
2. Log your blood pressure

No bloated features, complicated menus, or overwhelming lists of tasks. Only two clear, straightforward actions that will set you on a new course towards heart health.

The Heart Club app runs in the background, so you don’t even have to remember to turn it on. It tracks your steps all day.

How to Track Your Steps
If you’re signed into the app, then it tracks your steps automatically. You don’t have to do a thing. Just walk!

How to Log Your Blood Pressure
Click the menu symbol, then click “Semler Portal.” Then hit “Add” and record your information (systolic, diastolic, and pulse).

You can also view your past recordings or set a custom range. You can see your monthly stats or check if there’s a downward trend since your last doctor visit.

How to Link Your Bp Monitor to the App
If you have an Omron home blood pressure monitor, it will connect wirelessly to Heart Club. Then you don’t have to manually input your numbers. (Get 20% off an Omron monitor at semlerhealth.com/marketplace.)

How to Print Your Bp Reports
You can print a blood pressure report directly from your smartphone, if it is connected to a printer. You can also access your report online at semlerhealth.com on your computer. Click the “Download Report” tab at the top of the page. Then you can easily share your records with your doctor.

How Does Walking Help Hypertension?
Physical activity, including walking, strengthens your heart. When your heart is strong, it can pump blood more efficiently, which softens the pressure on your arteries. The result? Lower blood pressure!

People who walk even 30 minutes a day are 35% less likely to have a heart attack or stroke.

Lower Your Stress
Don’t spend so much time worrying about your risk of stroke or heart attack. You can significantly reduce your risk just by walking more. If you walk every day, you can feel relieved that you’re making a big difference in your heart health.

Walking: A Simple Activity with Complex Benefits
You don’t have to run a marathon, and you don’t have to do it all at once. Try a mile in the morning and a mile in the afternoon. Bring a friend and chat along the way, or try listening to a podcast or an audiobook.

The more steps you get in, the more you lower your risk—regardless of your age, gender, or race.

Walking has other benefits, too. By walking, you can:
Lose weight (Heart Club tracks your calories burned)
Reduce your risk of falls
Reduce your chance of bone fractures
Reduce your risk of osteoporosis
Improve your sleep
Improve your mood and mental health
Reduce your blood cholesterol
Lower your blood sugar
Reduce your risk of some cancers
Prevent or control diabetes
